I offered this up for sale once before, but there were no takers. Since the cootie should be here in two weeks and I need the wall space, I am offering this for sale again. I don't really need to sell, I just don't play this one much and I prefer the cut-aways.

So, you know the details. John Lennon Legend Limited Reissue (dubbed JL3 by HWWFKASO). Typical great Legend deep bowl sound. Beautiful nutmeg flawless top. Stacked two knob stereo electronics on the should of the body. Ebony neck, walnut bridge, gold tuners, gloss neck. Only 6 made it to the USA. 100 were made. These were made for the Japan market. This is considered an FRG but I cannot find any flaws.

I'll sell for $800 plus shipping. I'm gonna put it on Ebay if nobody is interested.

Tony, how does the JL3 sound compared to our favorite Ltd Ed Legend?

Stephen, are you asking me? The JL3 is the only Legend Ltd. that I have.

Compared to the 30th Anniv Custom Legend, it is lighter, newly manufactured old tech pre-amp, single rod v. double rod, etc., as well as being a "plain jane".

By the way, I like the newly manufactured old tech pre-amp, just not as versatile as the OP-Pro w/XLR.

Haven't figured it out but the Patriot, the 1984 Collectors, the Anniversary, and this one - all with a darker, almost nutmeg finish have a different voice than the dark sunburst, black, or natural spruce. I can understand Mahogany, Koa, Maple, Cedar, etc.; yet, these are spruce tops.

They are both different, both quality instruments...need to have both. Along with too many others.

Someone should jump on this one.

I've had mine for about 6 months and it's being gigged weekly.

Don't let the stacked vol/tone preamp put you off either.Set it flat and it sounds very natural with volume to suit.

Rich acoustic tone also.

For anyone new who doesn't get it yet...I'll translate:

HWWFKASO - he who was formerly known as StandingOvation

Awesome instrument. If I wasn't tied up (quite literally) at the moment, I'd be all over this one. Hopefully someone will give it a good home.

In my opinion the best wood top guitar Ovation has built in the last years. (Without having played the Josh White RI!)
Whoever looks for a rich, fullsounding guitar, this is the one to choose.
And very collectable as well.

Someone should buy it, he will be very happy with it.

Not to pat SO on the back too hard, but I think JL3 was one of his better accronyms.

I'll say it again, this is a GREAT guitar. It's everything vintage you want in an Ovation but with all the modern detail and quality. One of the best necks they have ever done in my opinion. And the looks are just awesome.

This is so tempting, but I am using all my willpower to resist. I have so little of it, that it's almost used up.
Help me out here, Dave. If you could only have one Legend, would this be it?
We were eating dinner with 2 other couples who also have anniversaries in August. Of course, the talk rolled around to what our spouses put up with. There was a long discussion about snoring and other things. My wife inserted, "when he brings home another guitar."

The headstock doesn't turn me on as much as the color of the top. I just love the soft elegance of the top.

Is that the headstock of your JLR?

Here is a shot of mine which is darker than the photo:

Mine looks like Tony's but with a mroe traditional TRC.

Mark, I can't answer your question without pissing off a lot of Custom Legend and ADII owners. Sorry.

Mark, go for it! You won't regret it! In fact a Custom Legend without the bling! Best "new" Legend you can get! (I am out of here!)
