Wow! That may be the benchmark for a great deal on an Adamas from now on. Congrats, Jim.

I said that I was done for the year when I got the 82 collectors(which was also a buyer's delight @ $455 shipped), but if the resale market/e-bay stays like this much longer I'll have to reconsider....

Great Get Jim!!

It's reallly funny, I was going through my ebay, things I didn't win, and saw the Adamas from the last time it was up. I was just about to kick myself again for not bidding at the end when I decided to check out the buyer and see if he was trying to flip it and make some money. There it was as one of his listings, and it had just listed, so I bought it. Even though I probably could have gotten it cheaper before, (who knows) I no longer have to kick my own butt. I still don't beleive it! It is just what I had in mind, except slothead, but I really didn't expect to find one of those, especially at that price.

If you find the slothead someday and decide to get rid of this one, you know where to go. I kind of like those blue, no cutaway, two-knobbers.

Which reminds me Mark, how is it with the growing list in your signature line you don't own a #47RI?

Pretty simple, really. I started making a very flexible mental list of wants after I found the OFC. Most of it was based on OFC recommendations, since I don't have any opportunities to try them out here. The list kept expanding faster than I could complete it and had just bought the Ute when the #47 started coming out. If I don't keep getting distracted into using all available funds for other guitars, I'm thinking the OFC guitar will be the one I get instead of the 47.

OK ... you all have me intriqued here. I clicked on the link and it tells me the auction was cancelled. Did somebody win an auction here, and what was it?

Interesting story there... I just got an email from Ebay saying the auction was TKO, that means they pulled it because the sellers acount was compromised by a third party and I should try to get my money back through paypal. Now, I am prone to worry sometimes, so I tried to contact the seller last night (Sat.) to no avail. Since the auction didn't exist anymore, I had no way to find his contact information. So, needless to say, I didn't get much sleep last night. I did fire an email to the seller, which I am happy to say, was replied to this morning. It seems his password was somehow taken, and someone tried to sell 25 jet skis on his account, and also relisted the Adamas, so Ebay pulled all the jetski listings and anything to do with the guitar, which I had already purchased. He was very responsive and said the guitar was still on track to ship on Monday. Anyhow, I feel better now, and am awaiting the arrival. Will keep you all posted as to the outcome.

Hope it works out, Jim. I just showed my wife the CL she bought me for our anniversary and she asked how many more guitars I was going to get before the anniversary really came up. I told her about the #47 being a 30th Anniversary guitar and showed her a brochure. She liked "the blue one" next to it. I told her you just got one like it for $850, then read your post. I don't suppose she'll get me one, although she asked if I've bought a new guitar since the one we bought before our wedding in 1977. The answer was no.

I know that feeling Jim. I was bidding on a Guitar in Australia last month, and my account was frozen by Ebay, because someone had apparently accessed my account and was selling a Jet Ski (how coincidental) from it. They were right on top of it though, and I had a new account password within a couple of hours. It was a little scary for a moment though.

So once again ... Which guitar did you purchase?

Sorry. It is a 1981 Adamas II mod 1681-8 (blue non cutaway) much like my 1718.

Do some of you guys think that maybe what you should do is set up a guitar "Libarary". Kind of like Net Flix, where for a fee, you rent out your most unused instruments to folks for a month at a time, then it's shipped back to you at the end.

Might be a lucrative business that some attorney I know could set up.

The amount of the rental directly proportionate to the demand for the guitar. Condition and such is documented before and after.

Let's see, you could amortize an Adamas over about two years at $75 per month, lesser instruments for less.

Hmmmmmm......

Wow that just happened to me too in the last two weeks. I am glad I am in active EBay watch mode for purchase reasosns right now or someone would have sold more than one fake FENDI purse. (I caught it within 2 hours of them jacking my account). I was very pleasantly surprised at how quickly and efficiently Ebay reacted once I alerted them. Was quite reassuring :-)
