Jerome photo's of your (almost finished) walnut cover, have been emailed to you I will try and load some low res shots to my members section. today as well.
Anyone else interested in a customized truss rod cover or other?? Please take a look at what I have so far and let me know. These are very time consuming and it is impossible to charge for the time it takes. So it's a good deal for something like this. One of a kind covers...Hey nice x-mas present for the guy who has every guitar there is, or perhaps just that one they really like. Thanks again Jerome for getting me back in the studio and clearing my bench!

Thanks Randy,
You've done an outstanding job!! ;)

The only thing I can tell you is that this TRC is the exact replica of my project.
The design is surely a little bit "megalomaniac" but it's my choice.
I'm sure my custom TRC will be nice on the headstock of my Adamas II that's why I'm so anxious to get it.

Wow nice! Thanks guy's these little symbols are tough to fit on a cover. Fun challenge though. I am going to work one up for myself. Give me what designs you have I will do my best.

A quick question:

The relief on that fleur-di-lis isn't so high that it touches the strings, is it??

Just curious . . .

Cliff yes it is! Very observant. I told Jerome last night I will have to adjust this slightly but luckily it is very close, so the wings on each side of the symbol will only need to come down just a little. They are higher than I wanted anyway.

OK done. This cover has a ton of space on my custom legend headstock. but the slotheads are tight. I think Jerome wants this for a slothead adamas so I got it to fit on my classical. Man I did not realize the clasicals have a steep enough angle on them that there is almost no space to work with under the strings.
Jerome; This fits great and you lost no detail on the carving, but you have to be sure your strings are tightened so they wind outward from the center hole toward the outside of the tuning pegs. If they lay toward the inside they actually touch the carving. I have another photo headed to the gallery to exchange with the others.
Anyone else who may have a request please email me at home, I will do these for a few more weeks then be taking a break from them. I can draw up a quick sketch for your approval if your not quite sure what it should look like. Thanks for the comments guy's it's all just a learning curve.

The TRC is arrived today and is already on my A2 Slothead.
Unfortunately, the picture give not justice to the outstanding job done by Randy!!
It's a unique guitar with a unique TRC.

Thank you very much. ;)

Great! very pleased this was what you were after. One persons idea of what something should look like and anothers can often differ greatly!
I actually have two nice sets of Tailpiece/truss covers for Deacon's in Walnut, That members want. One I am designing with a Sun Face and shooting stars. I have another to custom design as well. Not sure where this one is going yet?? I was told to do what I like???? Only one other truss rod cover?? This I found very strange, I must have had ten emails about doing one but only one commitment. No matter, just odd. I am also drawing up a few that I think would look great for fun.
I am quite sure it is difficult to imagine the time factor for these. A truss cover that is elaborite can take 8- 10 hours easily....now you do the math on a craftsman who makes $25 per hour..... I do not make the money a custom carver should make for things like this. They just are not worth the price one would have to charge for this time. So I end up keeping my time rate somewhere near minimum wage. This way most everyone can afford to have more interesting designs done.
All I can tell anyone who is thinking of doing this is; THere is nothing that can customize a guitar to make it your one-of-a-kind than a carving like this. And you can always remove them if you ever wanted to sell it. Inlaying your name makes the guitar worthless to a family member who may wish to generate some cash for an instrument long after it's original owner is gone.

Anyway
Thanks for the compliments and let me know if I can do something for you. I am busy right now again but will be back at these soon enough.
Randy
