Finally got my hands on my 1537, back from the mothership! when discussing with John B. at the factory, I had asked for a basic clean-up job, fretwork, set-up, fixing minor top separation, that type of thing.

Somehow, they managed to put a new bowl (black) on her without replacing the top, I thought that once you replace the bowl, the top had to be replaced. I have double-checked with the original photos, and it is definitely the original top (with the laminated section under the upper bout.

I've emailed John for a complete breakdown of what was done to her. This guitar looks as if it has never been played.

She sure will now though! The sound is so much fuller than my 1868, it's a wooden cannon!

I'll post pics as soon as the clouds lift and I get some natural light to show this beauty off.

I had a similar experience sending in my '82 CL 12 back in '00. It's new bowl emamel. You have your original bowl. They sure do go above and beyond, don't they?

When I called up to ask why they gave it a LOT more attention than I asked for, the reply was "When they work on something THAT nice, they like to send it back as a showpiece so that everyone who sees it wants an Ovation."

They are just plain wonderful guitars. Mine looked almost like new when Noah sold it to me.

Thanks Randy.

I don't think I'll ever be able to get the sounds out of mine that you got out of yours. Not the guitar's fault, just that I started playing 40 years late that's all.

She is a beauty though, It must have spent most of it's life in the case. Weighs a ton compared to my 1868, I'm guessing the difference is in the neck. I find it a lot more comfortable to play than the super shallow bowl.

John B. sent me the entire list of work done on the 1537 at the Mothership.

Shot a new clear coat.
Replaced the epaulets
Replaced the bridge
Repaired the electronics
Reset the neck and leveled the frets
New coat of paint on the bowl
Replaced missing tone knob.

All this work was done for the original estimate price which didn't include 3/4 of the work they did on it.

I have always had great dealings with Ovation Customer Service, but this is far beyond any previous experience. Anyone thinking about sending their O" back for some spa treatment won't be disapointed! These people care about their customers.
