I've noticed over the last few months that the N769 I got from Fugot has a fuller sound than the one I've had for years. I think that one has "bluegrass" strings on it that are heavier than the lights I use on the other one, but not by much. Any thoughts on this?

I've been using mediums on almost everything. The higher tension just seems to sound better. Dave

Mediums will sound better than lights. I use them on all my dreads, lites on the rest.

But light strings are so much more comfortable! I've used Adamas phosphor bronze strings for years and they sounded absolutely brilliant for the first two weeks after I'd put them on my 1117 legend. On my Adamas they sound too brassy when new and then settle down to sound OK over that same two week period.

Yesterday I put on a set of Adamas silk & steel. They sound absolutely magnificent, nice mellow tone with lots of expression. Anyone with a W597 or similar would do well to try a set of these (they cost a little more, but what the hey).
