A classic New Yorker size with 14 fret neck and slotted headstock. Top is AAA grade solid Bearclaw Spruce. Sides and Back are solid Koa. Beautiful detail and abalone work abound. The design also includes the TDL line driver preamp with end pin jack output. This guitar was made in a limited edition of only 60 units and had an original list price of $2700. I purchased this guitar 2nd hand and it is stamped "USED" on the back of the headstock. The guitar is 100% flawless with the exception of one small lacquer blemish shown in the photo below. It does not photograph well and you can not really see it. But if you rub your finger on the edge of the binding you can feel a 1-1/2" section of edge with some small air-bubbles in the finish. Other than that, the guitar is perfect. Includes all original hang tags. The guitar originally did not come to me with a case, so I have purchased for it a BRAND NEW first quality Takamine/TKL case designed specifically for the EF417S. The case and guitar have NEVER left my smoke free house BONUS: Also included is an Ax-Jacket for protecting the EF417S while it is resting on a guitar stand. This is a super nice design and will protect the EF417S from dust, dirt and accidents. Price: $1300. Includes FREE FED EX Shipping in the 48 US States. PM or email me if you have questions. Thanks. Dave PS - Oh yeah, WHY am I selling such a wonderful and rare instrument? Well, I just so happen to have TWO of them. The EF417S is my "go to" guitar around the house so one of them is not leaving my side. The other deserves to be at someone else's side.

"TDL" stands for Takamine Line Driver and it is basiclly identical to the Ovation FD14 electronics. In other words, it is an impedience matching pre-amp located inside the guitar that feeds a line-level output through the endpin jack. You can plug straight into an amp, mixing board, etc. No additional DI box or external pre-amp is needed. The TDL is powered by a 9V battery that is tucked away up under the neck/fretboard area. There is no external hatch door or anything like that. You may have to loosen the strings to change the battery, I'm not sure. The only down side of the TDL (or FD14, for that matter) is that there are no on-board controls. But to me that's a small price to pay for maintaining the looks and integrity of such beautiful koa. How does it sound? Well, this is the SAME TDL setup as found on the EF75 and EF360SBG and quite honestly it is the best sounding system I have ever heard other than a cool tube. You definately will NOT be disappointed in the EF417S plugged in. A few other OFC members own this model so maybe they will comment as well. Dave

I have the majority of my guitars hanging on the wall or on stands (like Dave's new storage music room) and the Tak EF417 is ALWAYS one of the first ones I grab when I only have a few minutes and want to feel good about the day. It is also one of the most comfortable guitars you will play. The New Yorker style body is just made to be held. This will make a GREAT addition to someone's collection. I hope it stays in the family.
