Hypothetical Question-- If you find that you have too many guitars for your space... But you like all your guitars (which is why you have them)... But you figure that you have to make room... How Do You Decide Which One(s) to Sell?

Pick one favorite from each spectrum and get rid of the rest. Then with the proceeds start collecting again. But don't hang on to a guitar that does not "speak" to you. At one point i had close to 20 guitars. I'm down to five and three of those are on the block. _____ gh1

Unless there is some really strong sentimental attachment, it doesn't really matter. I have sold some awesome guitars and while I had short term sellers remorse, it never lasted long.

My Ultra GP is currently in transit from the US, if sounds as good when I get it I might move the LP on. But then again!!! Skyhooks Arthur, Skyhooks. Some people like to put mirrors on the ceiling, why not guitars? AJ :D

Or you could do like my neighbor did and build a small studio in the back of your garage. He kept bunches of guitars in there and his wife hardly ever looked. Wish he still lived there. Maybe he could hide some of mine over there.

So I put strings on it so I can tell folks that it is still playable. Maybe good for camp/beach/whatever. Then I play it, and it still plays nice, sounds great, easy on the fingers, and a real boomer. But it is a POS that a BFLG-er MIGHT be able to salvage. I'm figuring that it might cost more to ship it than I would get for it. Yeah, I have sold most of the guitars that migrate to the back of the stack. But I am stuck (in my own mind) cuz I know I won't get what "I" feel that they are worth! "Hey! That is a 35 year-old Classic! Whaddaya mean $50! "

I've been through this process, believe me. I had 4 Thunderheads and 3 Tornados. Every one was "special" yet every one was the same. It was stupid. I sold 6 of them and I'm just as happy. Once you get used to selling them off, it's not such a big deal. The joy is in knowing that everythign you sell off can get replaced with something even better. Dave Dave

Then you will know which ones you can bear to part with. Hey What a coincidence, I am in the area. A perfect lending location. (LOL) Seriously, I lent my first Ovation Celebrity to a kid at church who was dying to learn to play, but his family could not afford a guitar. After a while I did not miss it, and gave it to him because he cherished it so. (He's 17 now and a pretty decent player.)

And Doctor Otis, I have lent-out my Johnson 620 and the Ukulele... The (old) girls down the hall have them... But I never hear them playing them. (which may be a Good Thing - As Martha Stewart would say) [And No, the 1121 and 1621 are not the same guitar, the 1621 won't fit in the 1121's case.]

I promptly sold it, cheap. I haven't even loosened the strings and I miss it already Now I gotta decide between 1121 and 1621. Both have pseudo-sentimental value....

I just sold my Strat on Craigslist. The guy came by, gave me cash, took the guitar (no shipping involved) and it didn't cost me a thing. That's the way I like to move guitars. ;)

I wanted it to go to a Newbie or a Poor Tramp. I don't have that Killer Business Sense to sell a Beater for $200 [which is what I paid for it]. My CC57 sold to a reseller... They relisted it in days for BIN at double the price. It didn't sell, and they ended-up listing it again, and selling it for what they paid for it. Maybe somewhere down the line the Beater will end-up in the hands that will appreciate it! Yeah... I'm glad you liked the listing. I'm gonna use that template again. It looks nice. Practice Makes Perfect... Now if I can translate that to my guitar playing...
