Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I visited the GC once in SF, but was unimpressed, and the trip from downtown required walking up and down some really steep hills. I was able to demo a Mesa Boogie amp while there, and reached the conclusion that it was a lot of money, although the bubinga wood cabinet was exceptional. Couldn't find any other guitar stores downtown. |

Location: Tennessee | Real Guitars is a vintage shop in the Mission District of SF. Lots of cool old stuff.
Guitar Solo is a really good store. They are located near the Giants ballpark just on the fringes of downtown Financial district.
Rocker Guitars is on Howard Street right downtown and is a great place, but they do lean more to the electric side of the street.
Fine Fretted Friends in Livermore, California, about 30 miles east of SF is a high-end acoustic guitar shop ... small but friendly.
Hertlein Guitars in Dublin, California, about 25 miles east of SF. Your basic guitar store but decent people and a real nice selection of both acoustic and electric. And close to CasaBobbo. Give me a call if you're rolling through town. |

Location: Okinawa Japan | I checked out Subway Guitars in Berkeley. WOW! some very obscure stuff to be sure. But the whole store looked like an accident waiting to happen. I hope he has fire insurance. Interesting place though. |
