Yes there are celebrity collectors editions. $180. would seem like a good price. I've paid more than that for empty cases. Dave

The CP2001 is a collector's edition of sorts...
And I have seen Celebrity's on eBarf that say "Collector's", "Limited Edition" and "Anniversary" on the twelfth fret...
This is the first one that I have seen with it written on the Headstock.

It still a Celebrity, but it might be a Nice Celebrity.

I don't think I've seen any celeb with a 5-piece neck, and looks like a collectors label through the epi...

also does not have a celeb fretboard, looks like the real deal,

looks like a USA O to me... but I've been wrong before.

So True Glenn...

I looked at that long fret-board, and I don't think that is book-matched plywood.
(although I've got book-matched flame-maple plywood on my CS257)

Apparently the seller don't know what he's got...

(I think I will dig that 257 out... It must be getting lonely with the Elites and Pacemaker taking up all my time... :p )

I owned a CP2001 "collectors" and it was a really nice guitar. Black cherry burst with abalone all around. Very pretty and playable.

I had a CP2002. Nice guitar, solid AA spruce top, mid-bowl, lots of bling, very playable. A little weak in the bass compared to deep bowl elites, but still a nice guitar.

if they got it for $180 it would be the best deal I've seen here in a looooooong time..

I called and tried to be the good guy and let him know he might want to research what he had a little more, before he sold it for that, and told him the model # to look up... but left it on his answering machine.... guess I was too late...

congrats to the new owner

btw... I have done this before, both on e-bay and CL, and will do it again if I see these "deals" and will continue to educate, and inform people about these great guitars, they are our passion here,

most of us are reasonably knowledgeable about these fine instruments, to take advantage of someone's ignorance or desperation, or both, in my opinion is wrong.

if the seller is informed, and still chooses to sell at that price is one thing..... but if it is a 2001 redwood collectors model, and I believe it is... and a knowledgeable member here bought it at that price.... shame on you..

but again, just my opinion. and sorry about my rant.

Celibrity collectors.

Should be known as the NQC-Series.

i had 2002 Celebrity Collector's. Sold it without any regret, and i don't miss it. Wouldn't buy again, even for cheap.

When I bought mine, I had found it on Ebay, and I thought, "man, a real ovation, and cheap too." I had an Applause at the time, and wanted to get an Ovation. I assumed there was only OVATION guitars, not different levels of them as far as where they are made. I should have done my homework, but at the time I really didn't know much about them, and just bought it. I'm sure there are plenty others who have fallen into this "trap". I would think Ovation should make the offshore items with a different designation, like the Applause brand. But, what do I know? Soon they'll all be that way.
