Location: Edinburgh | You'll all gather I've just bought a Thunderhead (1968- tremelo)and pleased with it- all original. I was told that there are very few of them in the UK. Any idea if this is the case. Suggestion was made that there might actually be only half a dozen or so over here.

Location: Scotland | I've seen maybe 20 T-heads and if we include the Tornado and Eclipse models it's well over 30, so there's probably quite a lot more, mostly thanks to ebay and forums like this. They were never officially imported into the UK when they were in production and I hadn't seen a single Storm series over here until well after ebay got established. |

Location: Scotland | Nope, on the other coast. Actually most of the T-heads I've seen I imported myself and sold on. That's about 6 or 7 years ago when nobody wanted them and they could be had for less than $300. I must have sold 14 or 15 of them. |

Location: Brisbane Australia | I was visiting my Daughter in London Dec 06 and went to Edinburgh for Hogmanay (New Year).
Nearly got blown to bits and the festivities were cancelled. :(
But the pubs were warm and the Whisky smooth.
Great place, the history is amazing.
Sat in chairs that were older than Australia.

Temp, the BlackBottle you brought me is LONG gone (as are two bottles of Glenfiddich15), Lophraig'll be next, & hopefully I can crowbar some Tallisker in as well . . .
Does a liver qualify as "carry-on"??

Laphroaig was always my favourite single malt, closely followed by Lagavulin. Since I've been here I've discovered another Islay Malt that is simply spectacular. It's called Caol Ila (pronounced Culleela) I've just killed a bottle of 12-year old. I'll make sure I have another bottle or 2 on hand.

It's called Caol Ila (pronounced Culleela) I've just killed a bottle of 12-year old. I'll make sure I have another bottle or 2 on hand. I love it when we talk 'Scotch', as in whiskey. The last of the Bowmore 12yr single malt has gone by and it is time to re-stock. Recommendations are always welcomed! I'll have to try this Caol Ila, if I can find it.

Location: Scotland | Brad, Bowmore is from the same tiny island as Caol Ila. They share the same US distributor. They should be able to put you in touch with a local supplier (failing that we might be able to arrange a little bootlegging)

Here's a recommendation for you. Black Bottle. It's a blend of only Islay malts. Inexpensive (over here) and better than any blended Scotch I've ever tasted.

i had Laphroaig at a bar once and loved it but havnt been able to find it at the store i go to..my be ill look else where |
