The 01C is going in tomorrow to my guitar tech to have the saddle fitted, really looking forward to playing it. The 97C is at the MS, waiting for Kim to give me the full details of the state it's in. Once I have those two up and running the only Ovation left on my list is a 87C-4. Then it will be time to start looking at Adamas's. I am really just having a hedge bid on this, if I don't win no worries. I know it's not a textured top etc but it does have an ebony fingerboard :)

Which is why I ain't selling nuthin on eBarf. And I am broke, and cannot unload anything to get discretionary funds. I've paid more than that for two of my T's...(including the shipping!) Anyway... Guitars will get you through time of no money better than money will get you through times of no Guitar! Be sure to tell us how it is... Even though it ain't a textured top :p

This again falls into the "boy that's cheap, let's stick in a low bid. If I lose no worries. If I win clean it up, set it up and give it a whirl. If I like it I introduce to the rest of the herd, if not then back on EvilBay it goes. More often than not selling at a profit." I'll let you know what I think of it. In actual fact having parted with the Elite Special (my old beater) this is likely to become the new beater. I know an Adamas for a beater!!!!

So it's your thunder for the next several weeks. ;)

If you're really lucky, this one sounds even better than its siblings to compensate eh? ;) Ho! Ho! Thanks Patch. Here's the weird thing -- I now have some really, really lovely guitars but it's your old 84C that I keep coming back to. It is my goto guitar, whilst it has it's 'faults' (compared to the others) it is the guitar I use most for learning pieces, SOOOOOOO versatile. Every Ovation nut should have one. There is no way to say "this is my favourite music or these are my top 10 albums" simply because it all depends on my mood. In the same way sometimes the 01C rocks my boat, sometime one of my other puppies does it for me. But the thing is I'm not a collector for collectors sake, they ALL get played, loved and enjoyed. If they don't then on EvilBay they go cos someone else will hopefully enjoy them etc. I continue to improve as a guitarist & musician and I can safely say it's down to having a passion to pickup and play a great guitar. For years I used to read guitar mags and never really understood guitarists that had such a clearly definded idea of what guitars they liked and why they liked them. I am now starting to understand and appreciate that a lot more now. A bit of a ramble, sorry for that, but here's the thing. Lots of people have said the SMTs are sh*t compared to a textured top, well I would say this, "I reckon Adrian Legg could make a SMT sound SOOOOOOOOO good you would go and buy one the following day". So there! OK you could counter that argument by saying he would make even a Tak sound good but let's not go there.... ;) Bottom line. I continue to play, improve and love playing the guitar thanks to Ovation!

I'd leave the "ear" the way it is - it won't affect the sound, is only cosmetic and adds character. Besides which, it's on the lower side and you won't even see it when you're playing it. Great pickup.
