Hi! I need some advice! Thanks to the recession here in the UK we are having to sell our beautiful Ovation Anniversary model number 1657-7 guitar and it's original case to keep mortgage payments going. Breaking husbands heart to have to do this but needs must, as they say! I have no idea what sort of price to put on the guitar and the case or where the best place would be to sell it....any advise would be so appreciated. Both the guitar and the case are in wonderful condition. Thanks for your help......

Hi,
The true price of anything in our world today is that something is worth only what a buyer is prepared to pay for it.

To give you some idea of what I mean :-

A 1657 was put on ebay uk in June this year for a starting bid of £700 and a BIN price of £1,000 - nobody made a bid and the item was unsold.

One sold in Feb 2012 on the OFC site in Feb. 2012 for about $900 (£564) plus shipping and in July this year one sold on ebay USA for $355 (£223) !

One is currently on offer on ebay USA with a BIN price of $650 (£407) with, up to now,- no takers.

I am sorry to be so negative but there is really no direct answer to your question especially taking in to account the vast difference in price between USA and UK Ovations because of shipping costs and import duty etc. - UK will always be dearer than USA

Sound out some local Ovation dealers and check out ebay and other auction sites for guidance.

Sorry I could not be more helpful, but, as a fellow UK lover of all things Ovation, I know what you are up against'

If I can be of any further UK help (or not), please ask away.

Cheers James Bristol - England.
