Ya know Dweez, I think you're worse than me. I guess we need one of our kind on each side of the pond. ;)

I've had one of these for years. I found it cheap locally. That was before I got hooked and really developed a love for the deep bowls. This was relegated to being looked at and rarely played until last weekend when someone came over to record some tracks with several of my Ovations. He liked the 99 best, probably because of the Optima. I pointed out this one on ebay to him. I should probably tell him it's hopeless now that the shark has picked up the scent of blood in the water.

I've been watching this one since it was 5 minutes old. It'll probably go past me budget though. I had one before, and I miss it. I have others with better acoustic tone, but it hardly sounds bad, and besides, you can't help but just stare at the thing. The guitars are gorgeous!

Sold for over $800! The local guy bid $795. Maybe I'll sell him mine.

More than I could afford, but it was obviously worth it to someone. They're getting tough to find. I think that's only the second one in about a year. And the last one was in average shape at best.

At least we know we have expensive taste.

Keep watching for an 87, dweezil. It's a far better sounding guitar than the 99. Of the turn of the century Collector's, I thought the 01 was the best. Seems like you had one of those and got rid of it.
Of course you could go for a Book Elite instead of the almost identical 87.

One will show up for you, dweez, you just have to be looking.
I somehow found mine on craigslist in Tampa, FL (diagonally across the US from me...), and thanks to the very generous D'zilla it made it safely home.

Yeah the 01 was a looker but compared to others it didn't make the grade it term of feel and tone. Not too bothered about the 99, if one ocmes by that's cheap I'll grab it just to be able to try it and sell on if need be. That's how I ended up with three 97s! Two will be up for grabs at some point soon.

I just offered to sell mine to the local guy. I'm having seller's remorse already. Maybe he'll turn me down.
