I was on the hunt for a UKII, but I've run into a Vipers over the years, and this one seemed like a good one. It's got the Schaller bridge, and looks pretty clean all around. The only flaw is that somebody took a piece off the pickguard, and (perhaps the same) somebody filled it in w/ some sort of non-matching-yet-black-so-no-one-will-notice substance. I know that I can get replacement guards from WD and others, but does anyone know if there are any original pickguards out there? Oh, yeah, and if anyone has a line on a case, let me know. Thanks!

I just got my first Viper just a couple months ago, great guitar (Not a UKII though). Anyway, try Ovation service, but around here, Mr.Ovation might be able to help, and MWoody makes some sweet custom PGs for the Viper and others. Stick around, you'll have more Ovations 'fore you know it.

Love that town...great food, great wine, GREAT BEER!

I just used it to record a surf song and it got some pretty bitchin tone through Pro Reverb with the tank bubbling nicely. The song may be on the forthcoming OFC MNO3 disk. I love my Hog Viper and it is my go to electric guitar. Congrats. Keep your eye open on eBay for a case. They pop up every so often. And for these late model ones, the case is black ... not the brown ones. Those will work though as the dimensions are the same.

There's a company that makes bunches of replacement pickguards that look close to originals. I've seen many where the pickguard is broken right at the input jack. Even saw one with a Nintendo controller in its place. MWoody might still have that, or he could get you a nice wooden pickguard.
