How does this compare quality wise to a 1763? I know the physical differneces.

Dang. This stuff continues to amaze me. How does a virtually-new-condition, 30 year-old instrument stay in hiding?
That critter is probably worth twice what it's going for on the auction.
It will be interesting to see what the final bid is.
Got one already, though.

I must say sharky is getting hunger pangs.

He still cannot make up his mind whether this or a 1763 should be on the mnenu.

I paid almost that for my beater. Dweezil, in my book the 1713 is a much better sounding guitar. Deep bowl and cedar top with the wider neck of a classical guitar. The 1624 sounds puny in comparison.

Nothing surprises me right now on Ebarf. I've seen guitar (and related gear) auctions that I thought would go much higher, so I didn't even bother to put in a bid. Some went for the absurdly low price.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a Country Artist model and not the Concert Classical(that has the little scrolled fretboard termination at the soundhole)?

I think the Counry Artist also has the narrower nut width.

It's a beautiful guitar either way, but I don't believe it is actually the classical.

You're right, Vince. Many people call them classical guitars, probably because they think all nylon string guitars are classical guitars. The Country Artists are a bit of a hybrid.

It's got the flat fretboard of a classical, so I would put it more in that category.

I just sold mine too. My Mom has the Concert Classic, so if I ever have the nylon urge (Guitars you pervs!) I can borrow hers.

I had the Ovation Concert Classical also, and I really liked it. The only problem was that it was a bit cumbersome and heavy compared to a traditional concert classical guitar. This is probably the one and only case in which I chose a square back over the Ovation. Primarily because the one guitar I keep near the bed to play in the dark at bedtime is my classical. I can fall asleep with a traditional lightweight classical across my body, but that round deep bowl just wants to slide away when I doze off. I just wish I could afford to have a custom high-quality classical guitar(Jose Ramirez)made with a narrower nutwidth.

My 1624 and 1713 are flat. Don't know about the others.

Unless special ordered otherwise, all Ovation nylon strung guitars have flat fretboards

no. go figure, you can't sell an Adamas for 800.00, but a nylon string O goes for that much. I guess it was worth it....at least to someone.

Way too high. You could find a nice one a year or two ago for a couple hundred less. Makes no sense to pay that much this year. Maybe this shows the power of an endorsement on the OFC. Or that eBay auctions are completely unpredictable.

I've never played the Country Artist, but I heard from a guy who once owned one (and says he wished he's never parted with it) that it was a great instrument. That price was a bit high for what we have all seen in the past, but everyone here knows that all of the old USA Ovations are usually way under priced for what they are. Maybe people are starting to get wise to the secret?

This one looked to be in exceptional condition, with not even any colour change in the top.

Prices for premium vingage instruments are quite unpredictable.

I guess it does make sense for someone that wants this specific guitar in perfect shape. There aren't that many of them around and very few in fine condition. Mine's a beater. :)

Very well put. Having a bottom feeder mentality sometimes I fail to see things from the other side.
