Welcome Sean, wish you the best with the sale.

We do, however, charge a nominal fee every time someone uses the terms:
Rare
Limited
Vintage
Banjo

If you see a tall gentleman in an aloha shirt circling your block, he's coming by to collect.
:D

What sort of Acoustic are you looking for in a trade?

Hi Sean, welcome! It's nice to have people flashing exotic axes in the for sale section.

One thing to note is that items in the For Sale section must have a price. If it doesn't, that tall gentleman that MW refered to might pull the plug on your ad.

Don't be shy - ask want you want! We are all ovation lunatics and you might be surprised.

Thanks for the heads up
I'm not sure what the bass might be valued at, so i didn't want to overprice it and look like a jerk
Boy did I have to dig to find the information on this instrument, it practically doesn't exist

Well Until I can edit the post,
The Price is $400
Originally sold for approx $560
Inflation since 82 would price a new one around $1300

It is however in amazing condition, considering it being 27 years old

As far as a trade, An Electric Acoustic would be preferred, I'm not as experienced with acoustics as Electrics, so i can't be too specific, but aside from that I'm looking to upgrade amps [Crate MX120r] and possibly my main guitar [Ibanez 320 DX]

Yes, some of the solids and especially the Ultra and Celeb stuff is really difficult to research for price or replacement.

Much of the Ovation gear is undervalued considerably in resale but if you have a personal threshold of pain it's good to state it.

Search the pictures at Ovation Tribute and Ovation UK (see my signature links) and you may discover some other Owners to compare with.

I watch the Ultra GSs on ebay and have bought a couple. They generally go for $150 to $250, depending on which of the 3 models and condition. I'm sure the basses are much more rare, but I haven't seen any sell to know what the market value is. I guess you'll find out.

WOWsers Jérôme, I have been trying to find one of those catalogs for years!!! Nice Score!!!

I checked the price lists I have and sure enough, 1985 is the last year they appear in a price list.

The first year I have is 1984.

Many years ago when I did the Collection site I obviously made a typo and no one has caught it.

The correct years that the Ultra HardBodies appear in catalogs are 1984 and 1985, not 1982 and 1983.

In doing a little more research, The Book states that electrics production ended in 1983, and all other accounts mentioned that last two years they made Ultra's. I guess the totally USA made Electrics ended in 1983... the Assembled in USA obviously went through to 1985.

Again... good call.

I noticed the discrepancy too, Miles. I also notice every time I see a price list that my Ultra GS listed for more than the GPs, but people pay 10 times more for the GPs now.

The Information I have found suggests that they were produced from 82-83 [Including those manufactured in Korea and assembled in the USA]
But continued to sell until around 85

Thanks Miles,
I was looking for this catalog since years too and I bought it on Ebay two weeks ago.
I was sitting in front of my computer till the last second to be sure to get it... ;)

The Book states that electrics production ended in 1983...
I've found a German price list from Feb,1984 where all the solid bodies and Magnum basses are still listed.
HERE !!
They probably came from stocks.
