It let me change the title of my post, but not the title of the thread. Waskel dropped the ball by not putting the word "ovation" in the title. The real stove knitters will see "looking for a new guitar" and not even click it. Try putting "Selling my Taylor to buy an Ovation" or "Brazillian vs. Lyrachord" in the title and watch the sparks fly. Fairly civil responses, so far. It hasn't been out there that long. But reading between the lines... "you must love better the crisp trebely tone on the ovation" "I've considered getting a lower end Ovation a couple of times."---"The only real deal breaker for me is the tight string spacing. Aside from that, I'd love to have one." "my preference is for a good number of other guitars over anything I've ever played by Ovation. I own Taylors, but I like Martins, Gibsons, etc."---"I have friends who are excellent guitarists who love their Ovations. Personally, I don't." "There are much better guitars out there but, there is absolutely nothing wrong with an Ovation." Good intentions... but even in these friendly responses I detect a definite bias, a down-the-nose, ugly stepchild sort of attitude toward O's. Not to mention a certain bit of, "No, really, some of my best friends are (fill in the blank)s".

(maybe CC059) There are some 'Cheap' Academy's floating around, but you won't find them in retail stores. [I'd love to have an Ovation, if they didn't have that crappy plastic bowl on the back! :p ]

You can get a Folklore for just under $1900, but if you know the right Al, I mean person, you can get an Adamas 1680 for not much more. Seems to be a gap below the Folklore.

Then the other forum goes and replies with civility... even the negative wasn't condescending. Still, we go ahead and fill in the lines for them... all the bad things they didn't say but we know they meant. Silly. I'd have to give the win to AGF on this one.

"The only way I would play an Ovation would be if I had a gig in a jungle and couldn't afford a Rainsong or a CA" Granted of you typed 'taylor' in our search box you'd get some pretty amusing stuff as well. Guess that's why they are called the Taylor fan club and we're call the the Ovation fan club.

I've been playing my Custom Legend 12 and having a blast: tomorrow morning in church I'll be playing the Taylor 810 Fall Limited and doing the same... Still, we go ahead and fill in the lines for them... all the bad things they didn't say but we know they meant. Silly. I'd have to give the win to AGF on this one. personally I love it!
