| At least I think I've got a Preacher neck, but that's all so far. Mahogany, @24 3/4 scale, solid body, barnburst finish, I think ebony fretboard.
If I can't at least find a body (any finish), I may kludge it onto my Godin (but those threaded neck inserts, drilling holes in the Godin, ah.... :( ), but the fuller neck, and more curved fretboard radius might make for a unique project.
I thought I had a similar body, but the neck pocket was too wide. Original electronics would be nice, but I have some alternatives there. Likewise the bridge and pickguard. I may have to settle for something off of Ebay...... |

| just my .02, but building or re-building an Ovation solid body from parts is APPRECIABLY much more expensive than finding a nice complete guitar on e-bay, from a member here, or on Craigslist... and this is from my own personal experience and that of others here.
Mwoody, Mr. Ovation(Miles), or Crimsonlake, or a few other of the members here will probably have the majority of the parts that you need, if not all that you need. but again it will be much more cost effective to find a complete used guitar.
is the neck you have from a deluxe model? if so it will have large flag abalone fret markers. that would be a nice start on the guitar, as those normally sell for between 150-300 on the used parts market.
best of luck with your project!

Once you know what you really want we can get you there. you can get a fully assembled stock unit pretty easy on Ebay - with a case!
If you want a Preacher look and feel with some custom pickups or on a Viper Body let me know! |

| Glen - not deluxe, just standard dot markers
I'm not really trying to construct a "correct" O, but I thought a body would be a good start. I suppose I can always get an aftermarket body (as long as the neck holes are not already drilled, and the pocket is not too wide), I've got no problem with tuneomatic, or F***** type hardtail bridges. Maybe with a Bigsby.....
I thought the Viper bodies were for 25.5" scale, so didn't really consider them, but I do like the shape. Already have a few mahogany body guitars, but that doesn't mean another would be unwelcome.
MWoody - The ProcrastiCaster is inspiring - what woods did you use ? Have you ever used walnut or pecan for bodies ?
Pickups - I had been thinking of some Jazzmaster type, or something different than the typical single coils or humbuckers that I already have. Besides a P-90 project, and a Filtertron-type project I have already started. I really like the pickups in my Tornado, but those don't seem to be too common.
Thanks all, for the comments and suggestions, please feel free to add more, I appreciate them. |

But if anyone can help pull it off, it's Woody & Mr. O! (and they're even spiffy cool guys to boot!)(IMHO) |
