saw this on the local CL and figured I'd post it here. http://elmira.craigslist.org/msg/1177786064.html
I'm a more traditional center hole git guy, but this is a heckuva deal.

The description of the pewter finish must be a mistake.

I think he just grabbed the description from Ovation's site and didn't make sure he had the right one. I can't tell you how many guitars I see listed with "maple or rosewood fretboard."

What afortune said. Last time I looked at my 1778T it had a maple neck, not "two piece mahogany."

I'm also guessing you'll, ahem, 'take a bath' on the shipping on this one, if indeed he'll ship at all. Where is Bath, anyway? Maine?

As long as we're on the subject, my own lusty red 1778T is still up for grabs. $550+ shipping. You won't find a nicer sounding or looking one. Excellent condition and comes with the OHSC.

Finally heard from the owner...........the serial number is 572126 which makes it a 2003 model. According to the owner he traded a motorcycle for the guitar and did not play it too much. Got some close up pics. sent to me. It is a greyish/pewter look to it. He told me he would take $400 plus shipping. Of course it is US made. Black machines on this guitar as well. I have my eye on a 6778 in black for $445 plus shipping. I am still looking to this before I consider any others. Thought I would pass this information along for any prospective buyer. The guy seems honest and straight forward.
