Actually after a quick check on the serial number, looks like this one was made in 1978, not in the 80's as this guy is claiming.

Did you buy it? That would have been a pretty nice grab at that price!

Looking at it, you could tell it was a mid 70's guitar. Truss rod cover, silver foil label. Means it has VT-11 bracing. Not my cup of tea.....

If I had 250 bucks I would've bought it but sadly I don't. Looks like it went quick though!

So, moody, please forgive my genuine ignorance and explain to me about the VT-11 bracing, 'cause hell if I know. I'm trying to learn as fast as I can, and I know that scalloped bracing is better, but I'm not sure why and/or what other kind of bracing there is! Was that the standard in the 70's?

Willa... There are a few of the bracing patterns shown Here... (Thanx to Ovation Tribute)

VT-11 bracing and A-Bracing...

Most people espouse the virtues of A-Bracing, but I owned two Artists with VT bracing that sounded just fine.
Many 1117's have A-Bracing. I had a S771 with A-Bracing that sounded nice also.

Thanks for the visuals, which explain a lot to me on the 1651 that I am trying to rehydrate....

the concaving/waviness of the top matches the lines on the bracing on the A-Braced top... it is slowly straightening out bit by bit, keeping it in the case with a dampener/humidifier and a cover over the sound port/rosette... but as I said before I am trying to get it to flatten back out without any finish cracking...

by the way and back on topic...

YOU STOLE IT FOR 249!!!

Great get.

Glenn
