Here's another CL 1619 already topping $1100 on Ebay with 2 hours to go. Perhaps the word is getting out about the reduction in USA made models already. Whata' ya' think???

Not sure if it's the MIUSA scare, but they are definitely going for more than they did early last year when I got my -1. There have been some really nice ones offered recently.

In fact, lately the Ovation/Adamas smorgasbord has had more selections than I've seen in the 2.5 years I've had 'O'GAS.

Regardless of whether it be the 'scare' or some improvement in the economy, I'm keeping my CL!

The seller of that one that went for $1600 & change a couple of weeks ago sent me an email offering 'buy it now' for $1,616.00, which I declined. I'm sure he'll be putting it back up. The first buyer backed out ... I ended up getting a 1119-4 from Patch, and I am SO happy I did. He WILL be the guy I call the next time I want to buy something. She's perfect! I have three 1869's also (two blonde and one blackie. I'd like to trade one of the blondes for a red if the opportunity presents itself), so I'm glad the price is going up, especially in this economy. After all, they ARE wonderful guitars.

Willa,

Maybe I've gathered too many barnacles in my bottom feeder tendencies, but I paid about a third of that offer for my '85 -1 CL.

Hopefully the CL has garnered the prices being asked. But ya gotta really want one to pay that price.

Well, I really wanted one, but not at that price. I've seen them sell for $400+. I am happy with what I paid for mine, because it's pristine, and was worth it to me for the deep bowl acoustic. Look at her; ain't she pretty?

People ARE paying upwards (way upwards) of $1,000 lately, so it will be interesting to see if the trend continues ... I hope it does, although I have no intention of selling MINE. As I mentioned earlier, I would trade one of my shallow bodied 1869's (natural) for a red one, but it would have to be pristine (there's that word again), because mine are. You did good on yours Iffy, but after all, you DO have a "knack for acquisitions", or so it would seem to this newbie. ;)

Sure does sparkle. So is the 09C all it's cracked up to be?

Now Iffy! You don't really believe I charged her $1600 do you? You know me better than that. And that 30 YO guitar looked brand new, no exaggeration.

But as many other threads on this site and others have said, the market value is typically determined by eBay and Craigs List now. And there's no doubt that the CL's have been going for 4 figures more than once recently. Due to car repairs, I'm seriously considering putting my CL 12'er on the block. But I REALLY like it, and I only have two twelve strings.

Decisions, decisions.....

Willa, your 1119 is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. The top doesn't look like it's 20-30 years old. Hope you play it a lot...

You're right Moody, it didn't look it. But the serial number dated it to 1976. This one was EXTREMELY well cared for.

Thanks, Moody. I play her all day long, switching off between her and the '09. Is the '09 all she's cracked up to be? Well, as a new (and fortunate to own such lovely guitars) player, I don't know if I am the one to give a report. She rings like a bell, very balanced and wonderful. The neck is outstanding, AND as you know, she's GORGEOUS too! As soon as I saw the '09 I wanted it; I resisted at first, but once I started frequenting THIS place, desire got the better of me. Then Patch put up the 1119, and I immeditately went into a 'tizzy', but had to have her. Patch is great. He only twisted my arm once ... KIDDING! Patch, don't sell the 12 string! DO NOT DO IT! You'll be sorry! Besides, I want it, and I'm pretty tapped! It's all you guys' fault ... I have GAS!

My two final acquisitions, before I have to start selling something, would be to have the 1187-247 (probably dreaming on this one) and a 12 string ~ at this point, in particular, PATCH's 12-er, even if I don't think he should sell it. Layaway, anyone? Arrrggghh!
