Well, any of you who have been following the story know that Karen kept the Pacemaker and sent me her 1758 Elite 12 instead. I just got it. What a great guitar! Just as I finished tuning it a guy came in and guessed the price to be about a thousand dollars. All of my regulars were drooling over it. If I played a twelver I wouldn't let it go. I will be putting it on the wall, but if it doesn't sell right away I will perhaps get used to a 12 string and wind up keeping it. (NO ALI, PUT THE GUITAR DOWN!! :D )

Iffy, if I could just stop buying guitars for a few minutes I could afford a good digital camera instead of borrowing one from Terry (who is at work right now). I'll try to get them up this week-end.

Ali, I realize that you have all them guitars in the shop to play with...
But even if you ain't a 12-string virtuoso, they come in handy.

Wish You Were Here
Lucky Man
Hotel California
Tambourine Man (Byrds)
John Barleycorn sounds nice on a 12
Anything by Gordon Lightfoot or Leo Kottke
(No, I don't do Leo... be nice if I could)

OMA, I know you're right, but I'm TRYING to be good. If I had unlimited money I would keep them all, but I play mostly fingerstyle jazz, so I would only use this one on very rare occasions. This sweet thing deserves to be played every day.

From my side of "The Rest of the Story:"
The 1758 was my first chance to get a 12-string, and because it had been Robbie's and he treated me more than fairly when I bought it, at first I was reluctant to let it go. (And, Robbie's been the best brother in the world to me since my Jack went home, so there was the sentimental attachment to it, too.) But, I comparison-played the two, back and forth, back and forth, several times, and realized that the Pacemaker was much lighter and a great easier for me to play.
So, when I asked Ali if she'd consider swapping, it was a good situation for both of us--either way, we'd both do well.
And as you can see from Ali's post, the rest of the story turned out really well, indeed. (And I'm even more phototechnically-challenged than our Black Hills gal is... ;) )

The Elite is -4, Mike;
And...the Pacemaker is now re-strung (Joisey Goil #2 assisted greatly in the process...I couldn't have done it without her.) It is a cannon--we had so much fun playing together tonight after we got it strung--switching back and forth between the 12 and her Elite T. It is just so playable! I put Martin Marquis lights on it, and the difference is really amazing.
Thank you, Ali, for letting me keep her--she is a blessing already.
