They cut a regular deep bowl, then made a new molded pice to complete the cutaway (see pic). The next year, they had a cutaway mold ready with the 1767. This is your typical sweet sounding A-braced Legend in black. The difference is that I've upgraded the electronics from the stacked knob preamp to the OP50. This has been my main giggin' center holed Ovation. Very good condition. Case included. $550 Plus actual shipping

Back in the days of gainful employment, I would have just added to the collection, but nowadays, it's not an option.

This guitar was a prime candidate for the upgrade cuz it had the concentric knobs right at the waist, so no holes had to be filled. Woody did a GREAT job on cutting the hole (though you could hear that guitar squeal for miles when he took the Dremel to it!) If you're collecting it due to the rareness, yeah a bad move. If you're looking for the best playing/sounding guitar both plugged and unplugged, well it's hard to beat this one. This one is well played and the top's opened up nicely.

I am SO looking forward to getting this. I love all of my guitars, but my old A braced Legend will probably always be my favorite. This new one is A braced, and with the upgraded electronics, it should absolutely sing. I can't believe how lucky I am to own so many fine guitars, and so much of that is because of you folks. Beal, I will be indebted to you forever for my Adamas. Bob, my beloved LX is a magic guitar that sounds like a harp. Iffy, thank you so much for letting me foster the Parlor guitar, which sounds sweet and is without a doubt the prettiest guitar I have ever seen. Karen, I love the Elite 12. Patch, I couldn't keep two LX's, but the one you sent me is now being played and loved by a nice gentleman in Custer. And Trader Jim, what can I say? You sold me a couple of beaties that I had to part with, but the folks who bought them are regulars so I still get to play them from time to time. And now my friend Damon has parted with his "main axe" and I am the beneficiary. All of you have made my life richer and my fingers sore, and I love you for it! THANKS!

And plugged in, it is absolutely fantastic. One other thing - I have such low action on all of my O's that people are amazed. Well this one has the lowest action of ANY guitar (including electric) that I have ever seen!
