Funny thing... this is my guitar! The live listing is here: http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/msg/1491771454.html My primary guitar is a '73 Strat. This breadwinner was given to me in lieu of cash by someone who hit my car. The tech who I use went over the whole thing, sourced two matching tuners, replaced the one broken toggle and went through all the powered-pick up wiring as well - works perfectly. I don't *have* to sell the guitar - I just never play it and thought it was a shame to be sitting around. But gee, maybe I should give it more of a chance? What else can you tell me about the guitar - you mentioned it's an early run? Look forward to learning more about it!

However, the serial number would indicate 1975 or later so it's safe to say, "early 70's" and be safe. The original tuners can still be found... although the supply is getting thin... but they are still around in peoples parts bins. Not much else to tell.. nice axe..

Can you tell me the difference between the terroidal and humbucking pickups (that I thought they were)? I think I will keep it a while and see if it grows on me. A surprising aspect of the guitar to me is how decent it sounds when unplugged. Any way you can point me to sources for original tuners and perhaps a nut?

For tuners, put up a want ad in the For Sale forum. As for the nut, have your local luthier cut ya one of these: It's a Micarda nut that would blend in nice on your BW.

Yes, but then I would have to kill ya :) Seriously.. the Toroidal pickups are single coil pickups, but I'm not sure really why they are referred to as toroidal as I thought all pickups were toroidal (wire around a core).
