... with a custom legend!

I've joined the elite, because I'm now one of the (growing) group of people who are custodians of one (or more) of AJ's guitars.

I picked this one up last night. It looks like it's never been played - no sign of any fretboard wear. Low, smooth silky action, finish in beautiful condition.

Now for the not-so-good bit AJ. There is a noticeable depression in the soundboard, just below the soundhole. I've tried to capture it here with a reflection of the overhead light.

Also, a possible crack in-between the soundhole and the bridge. This might be a finish crack, but given the depression, I'm a bit suspicious of that. I only had a quick chance to play it last night - beautiful, and will sound even better with new strings. I'm going to Canberra for the weekend, so I will try to give a better review next week - maybe find a dental mirror and have a look inside.

Sorry for the crappy photos, had to use my phone.

Sweet Richard. I'd try a little humidification, slowly, maybe that would straighten it out.

Now, did you post it here to sell it? ;)

Crapadoodledoo, not meant to be in the for sale section.

Sydney is fairly humid, but they may have been running the aircon a lot and that can dry things out. Would it help to tune it a step lower?

I usually detune the guitar to lessen the stress on the top and put it in a case with a humidifier and let the wood find it's normal position. BTW, I always thought you were one of the "elites" anyway Richard! ;)

Humidity is around 80-90% already, but I'll back the strings off if it's still like this on Sunday night when I get back.

It seems a lot of those "A" braced Legends have that "dip" either side of the soundhole. I've owned 3 or 4 that were that way. Some to a lesser extent, but they all had it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Richard, thanks for picking that up for me.

I noticed the "crack" before I bought it and asked the seller about it.

Apparently it was professionally stabilised several years ago.

Phew! I can stop worrying it. I just tuned it down a step last night to see if that would make any difference. It's in beautiful condition otherwise.
