The Ovation went to an ovation fan club member, the heritage went to a heritage owners club member. Other stuff moved pretty fast. Love it when a plan comes together ...

Joined: April 2006 Posts: 32 Location: Bay Area, CA | The VXT arrived today, and she's a beauty. I had never seen one in natural before, and cannot understand why Ovation did not make more--I mean this is a stunner. The woods are just gorgeous, the nicest I've seen on an Ovation, and I've seen a lot of them. Does anyone know the story of the natural option, as far as I know it was never advertised--is this a special custom order? She reminds me of some of the best USA Hamer's I've owned, the quality of the woods and construction are identical (and I expect that is no coincidence). Seriously, the body, neck, and top woods, binding, and finish are the same as on the Newport I miss so much now. It is a shame to hide these woods behind black paint, no matter how well applied. I dropped the action down to the floor, with nary a buzz, tweaked the intonation a bit, and plugged in. Great electric tone through my hot rod deluxe from the '59 duncans, and some nice acoustic tones off the Fishman; that bridge is easy to tweak too. Even unplugged she sounds great for practicing quietly. If you have been on the fence, give one of these VXT's a try, you might like it. I cannot say enough good things about rhoadsscholar, a real pleasure to do business with: fast shipment, packed well, great communications, a very highly recommended OFC member. This one is in good hands, I thank you, and hope all is well.

I needed some funds for a real estate transaction here in Michigan (the only thing that depreciates faster than Ovation guitars is Michigan Real Estate). All is well and I hope our offer is accepted (fingers crossed). The good news is I was also able to get my dream guitar (A 30th anniversary CUSTOM LEGEND). Cost a bit more than I sold the VXT for, buy I am jazzed about the Custom Legend (only 300 made). Legend has it that some folks on this board have more than one (that is the way I roll). I'll settle for one for now. (I have twin boys who are now 20 so I hope to get two of everything I think is great before the show is over ... I am sure I will replace the VXT at some point, but wanted to bid and win the custom legend before I let anyone know (IT IS ON ITS WAY). Report forthcoming ....
