These are really nice little guitars, and though they look great in the pictures, they look even better in person! (Isn’t that always the way?) Anyway, here you go…The six- and twelve-string variations of the 1985 Collector’s series; both in very good shape for 25 years old. In fact, the 6-string looks pretty much flawless! The case for it also in great shape. The neck is in excellent shape with almost NO fretwear at all. The finish looks almost new, and the playability is spot on. Honestly, I’ve seen very few guitars this age that look this clean. The 12’er has a couple of very small, pin-sized dings. And some slight scratching near one of the tuning posts. There is some grooving in the fretboard around the cowboy area for the E- and B-courses of strings. It isn’t bad and does not affect playability. The frets, conversely, show VERY minimal wear which suggests to me they may have been replaced in the past. The action is a tad higher than I like it, but is perfectly playable. The case is solid but shows its age via corrosion on the buckles and hinges, all of which work just fine. It (the case) has 25 years of scuffs and scratches but no cracks. These guitars have those very cool, highly-grained rosewood fretboards. If you have not seen them, you are in for a treat. They actually do not photograph very well (I’ve tried before with my Nakao Elite.), but they really pop out at you in person. They have VERY good acoustics for SSB’s, and the electronics sound great (of course.) I took more pics than will fit in this post, so here’s a link to all of them on my ning page. 85 Collector\'s Set I’m listing these separately on eBay, but wanted to offer them here as well. The 12-string is cheaper because of the wear I mentioned. I’ll ship the 6 for $700 and the 12 for $600. If you want the set, I’ll knock a cool $100 off the price; that’s $1300 to have both guitars shipped in the continental US. I know it’s cheating to copy-paste specs, but I have a bum thumb right now that makes typing something of a chore. (And I still have to write eBay ads.) So, straight from the Ovation website: COLLECTOR'S SERIES Model 1985 6 or 12 String Acoustic/Electric Body Type: Super Shallow C/A Top: A Spruce Bracing: Ovation Quintad Scale Length: 25 1/4" Fretboard: Rosewood Fret Inlay: 6 Maple Diamonds Bridge: Walnut Rosette: 5 piece epaulet Pickup: Piezoelectric Nutwidth: 1 11/16" Machines: 24K Gold Plated These are really quite nice, so feel free to ask questions. If you are comfortable with it, include a phone number and contact time as it is much easier for me to talk than to type right now. Enjoy the pics; the weather’s suddenly shifted gears today from gray and rainy to bright and SERIOUSLY hot!

The set is $1200, not $1300. Thanks for pointing it out. Sorry for the confusion. :)

Looking at the auctions, I know 12-strings aren't as popular as 6-strings, but man! One is nearly $300 ahead of the other! WOW! Ain't auctions fun? :D (Long as you don't get too badly sharked. Right Iffy? ;) )

I do feel a little pang getting such a great price, but considering that I'm unemployed right now and risking my wife taking implements of destruction to my body; I going to say "thanks" and promise you that it will have a great new home with my other gear in an excellent smoke-free, humidity controlled space. Hopefully we can do some other biz in the future and I can make up a little ground with you. Best Regards, Steve

I'll drop it at the UPS store on the way home from work tonight, though I might miss the 5 PM deadline. And don't worry, there will be other opportunities for future "biz". ;) I'm glad someone here got it for this price instead of some stranger though. Thanks for the bid. It's a nice little guit! :D

Joined: May 2006 Posts: 4226 Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Well this is different! Got quick payment for the 6-string with a PARAGRAPH of instructions. But the money's in my Paypal and transferring to my checking account, and the address is confirmed, so I'll play nice. Still...bit of a strange transaction. " Note to seller Hi. Please write the eBay item ID(s) on the package/label and well-pack the item to avoid breakage. Since we get tons of packages daily, we appreciate a packing slip attached to the item so we know which eBay item it is. After shipping, please inform us on the following URL. You'll receive a feedback after completing the form. (Here they have a link to follow that has a small form asking for shipping method and tracking info.) Thank you.
