Joined: January 2006 Posts: 3 Location: Fostoria Ohio | I just recently picked up a 1985 Ovation Ultra Series 1312-4. The label inside the guitar says "A Kaman Music Product - Made in USA". After finding this site (very helpful by the way) I have a question about the serial number in the guitar. The serial number inside the guitar is 066362 - which according to the Ovation web-site does not match the year guitar that I have. By the way - I have the original sales reciept, and the serial number matches that. I have not been able to find many reviews or information for this guitar - I paid $190 for the guitar, which was less than was originally paid in 1985 ($212). Any thoughs on the serial number issue and value???

As to the serial number, I don't know if the Ultra's were ever in the same serial number line as the other USA built Ovations. It's entirely possible that the number was part of the overseas line, in which case you'll never be able to corrolate it to anything. Of course, I could be all wrong.......

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 3 Location: Fostoria Ohio | All, Appreciate the feedback. I did pose this question to Ovation, I'm curious to thier response also. Not sure how you could label a guitar "Made in USA" and actually produce it in another country. I guess its hard to put a value on the guitar, but I do like the guitar - it sounds and plays good. This was kind of a shot in the dark when I purchased this guitar online - I have always wanted an Ovation. This is definately a great website - and I appreciate the responses. If I find more information on this guitar - I will post... Again, thanks to all who replied... Gregg

There just isn't enough money to do a deafd nuts copy. When you can get 20-30,000 or more for a fake (like a les paul or flying V) then there may be some but all that work for a few hundred or even $1000 just ain't worth it.

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 3 Location: Fostoria Ohio | This is the answer that I received back from Ovation. I did inquire about where those sets of serial numbers would be - no answer yet... Date: 2/20/2006 8:36:25 AM Eastern Standard Time From: askus@ovationguitars.com The Ultra Series had their own set of serial numbers apart from the regular USA models.
