Location: New Hampsha | There are two Adamasi, Adamases(?) on the bay right now, one's a W597 and one's a 1597. I have scanned the pics and for the life of me I can't see the difference. Did the guy use the same pics by mistake?
Can someone please enlighten me? Speak slowly and use small words....
Thanks! |

Location: closely held secret | The 1597 is a unidirectional weave fiber. The W597 is a multi-directional weave (crossweave). If you look closely at the pics you'll see the 1597 top looks almost like a straight wood grain pattern, while the W597 looks like diamond pleat.
Bide your time and wait for a textured top to show up. You'll be glad you did. |

Thanks - I see the difference now, and some dday someone could undertake to edumacate me in why one might be better or preferable to the other.
Opinion - A used 1881, a used W597, a used 1597, or a new 6778LXNEB? Which would you go for and why? |

Location: closely held secret | Well, as much as I love my 6778LX, I've heard pretty nice things said about the 1881. And it's a textured top. And Stephen has one for sale. I hear his sounds pretty good acoustically, that's a double good deal on a shallow bowl! |

I have both a 1597 and a 6778lx, and I have played the 597 CW, as well as textured top Adamas. They're all good.
FWIW, the 597 and 1597 sound and play about the same, which is "clean" and (some say) "clinical." I like them, though I think the CW is a better looking geetar, much better than pictures reveal! Like I said, they sound similar to me, but that might be my hearing. The 6778 is a great piece, easy to find and play at one of the millions of Guitar Centers, check out, fall in love and mebbe order from Al.Lots of warmth and clarity, just a killer git.Pretty too.The deep bowl textured Adamas is a little over the top in aesthetics for my taste, but what a sound!Just about the best tone my subjective ears have ever logged onto.
