I'll be in the area over the next several days and will have some time to do some window shopping and sampling of what is out there. Would love to find a U681T to try out as well as a folklore and/or CA.

Any suggestions on where to start? Is there a good source for used instruments as well?

There's a few small shops from Sarasota to Punta Gorda but no standouts. There's a Sam Ash in Sarasota and a Guitar Center in Tampa which have taken over.

Best selection of O's that I've seen is at Brent's Music Headquarters in Fort Myers, about 30 miles south of us. - Enjoy, Pete (in Punta Gorda)

I've been to the Sam Ash in Sarasota but was pretty disappointed in the acoustic room. 'Course that probably won't stop me from going back in to check out what's new when I'm back there next month.

Weaser,

I've been there also. Not to much to look at.

My son lives in Bradenton. The last time I was there they have a Country Artist 1124 Acoustic with a 3-4 inch crack by the treble side of the bridge. Wanted $497 for it. I have picked up some strings there.

GGG,

I'll be in Knoxville on Monday and Tuesday. Anyplace to drop into there? I've been to the GC and will probably get there while in town.

GGG, Bradenton is where I'll be. Beautiful area. My wife's aunt and uncle live there and invite us down to thaw every year (and most times we try to make the time ;) ). Usually we're there for the Feb break but this year we're late. Oh well - I'm sure it'll still be worth the effort!

Jeebuz, small world! We have family (on my wife's side) on Anna Maria. This is the first year in many we haven't gone down (due to her bed rest condition). We should coordinate next year, man!

BluesSailor: Not much at the GC, (except Noise).
Sometimes they do have some used Ovation and ask way too much for them. The last time I was in there I think they have a couple of LX's.

My wife and I usually go down in January or February For A week or so. Maybe next year we could coordinate and meet up with some of Florida OFC'ers. Kind of a Southern Nights OFC style.

Have I hijacked this thread?

Sam Ash in Tampa has a few Ovations in stock, don't know for sure what models though. If your looking for electric guitars, Express Music in St. Pete has some really nice gear for good prices (best prices on new Music Man stuff around). On the used market, Legends Guitars in Tampa has some really nice vintage stuff - some accustics, but mostly vintage Martin and Guild but a ton of vintage PRS, Gibson and Fender. Legends is also located 1 block away from Guitar Center as well. Sam Ash is maybe a 10 minute drive from both.

Every few months I'll hit all three, in the past year or so, bought a Valley Arts California Pro (pre Samick) from Legends, just bought a mint used Ovation CE868 from Sam Ash and a MusicMan Albert Lee from Express. They guys at Legends and Express were great to deal with, Sam Ash was like shopping at Target, but did get a great deal on my Ovation.

Second the Shells suggestion. The oysters are always top notch and the dungeness crab has never been anything but great. My favorite place is the Sand Bar on the island, though. Sit out on the deck, catch some sun, watch the people, drink some Red Stripe (or gimlets) until the light fades...
