Mark, this might be the one for you to pull the string on. Plus, isn't it close enough to hop into the Porche this weekend for a little "sight seeing" trip?

Yup, Mark this is the guitar you need. Sell the Country Artist, start using regular grade gas in the Porsche, do whatever it takes. Spring and Summer are just around the corner so that means people doing all kinds of stupid things that end up requiring lawyers to get them out of. Cash flow won't be a problem. Trust me, this is the one for you ... Man, I LOVE shopping with other peoples money.

Dave,

You do a pretty good job with your own money too. The reason I haven't posted on the thread on your custom custom is that I'm speachless in awe, envy, GAS.......

I was out driving the Porsche today. Met Stonebobbo on the way back and tried out his Traveler. Very neat concept.
Stephen, I expected a Westerner to know that Iowa was a long way from Idaho (even though I didn't know Toronto was north of Denver). I wish it said where it was in Iowa. Maybe Paul Blanchard is close.
I bought my Custom Balladeer in Iowa, but it was only $225 and I thought I'd save shipping by having my father in law bring it out. He decided not to come and had someplace ship it to me for a mere $70.
Since my wife just sent the IRS several multiples of the BIN for this one, I'm a long way from being able to swing it. Sure pretty, though.

Guys,
People say there are no stupid questions. So here is mine. What makes this 1681 or all 1681 so special?
Thanks

Couchflyer, this won't answer your question, but all I can say is 'Play one and you'll know'.

It was with this guitar that I realized that there were SUBSTANTIAL differences between guitars, not just nuance, artsy-fartsy, brand loyalty BS. You play one of these and you know that this is how a guitar is supposed to play. Then there is the sound. Very different than a box guitar or even a wood top O, but fantastic in it's own right.

I've got a 1537 and the sound is different than that of the Adamas. Maybe better, maybe not. that is personal preference. My preference to play is the 1681. It will be the last to ever leave my posession.

I know a U681t isn't blue and has a 12 fret neck, but other than that, how does a 1681 compare to the Ute?
When I told SWMBO that you guys found a blue one for me because she said I needed one, she said, "since when did you start listening to me?" Of course, I said, "When you said something I liked."

Mark, you need to buy this. That will stop me from checking every couple of hours to see if somebody has pulled the trigger on the BIN.

Help me out man! Buy this so I can stop thinking about it!

I think the 1681 has a fuller deeper sound than the U681T but it is not nearly as crisp.

If I was strumming chords and singing like Cliff, I would choose the 1681.

If I was fingerpickin and doing Paul Simon or Richard Thompson, I would go with the U681T.

That is just my opinion.

If someone doesn't feel comfortable buying an expensive guitar on ebay, remember that I have a near mint blue 1681 in my OFC gallery for sale.

Why would I sell such a wonderful guitar.......because I have a 1581 reissue, a 1688, an 1881, a U681T, a FD14, a 1537, a 1547, a 1719 LTD ED....etc...etc....etc..... I have just too damn many great guitars and only two hands and so many hours a day to play them.

Oh yeah....Mark, I know Idaho and Iowa aren't that close to each other but I assumed that when driving a Porsche, time stood still and distance meant nothing ;)

I figured that, Stephen, but it reminded me of a ton of stories about people getting the 2 states confused.
We drove the Boxster to Milwaukee a couple years ago. When we left, my back was killing me so bad that I could barely get into the car. After a few hours I felt great and got as far as Kearney or wherever they have that big bridge where we had reservations. It was only about suppertime and thought about going the rest of the way to Cedar Rapids, Iowa that day. Could have made it easily.
2 years ago I drove from Fort Worth to Fort Collins in 8 or 9 hours. Only stopped because I had friends there with supper on the grill waiting for me. I do like road trips.

I just noticed the no payments for 3 months. Wonder if that will take me past the end of the current moratorium?

Just do it.

Tell SWMBO that by dividing the payments by 3, it will be like buying 3 guitars but only having one to take up space.

I don't think so Randy. He's just trying to get me in trouble. I do the same thing by convincing they need to buy a 1537 or Ultra GS or whatever and then their wives are pissed at me. Unfortunately, one of those wives works about 15 feet away from me and is the secretary for the guy who's married to one of those other wives. Stephen is far enough away that he's safe from my wife, but she's met Dave and knows where he lives, so he better be careful. Maybe that's why he wouldn't let me meet his wife.
