....was wondering if anyone here has actually ordered either one of these ?

To me the 6 string is appealing but the prices seem very high. I know they're limited edition models, have hand laid bowls but $2599....

I know it's not a direct comparison (but a similar guitar),the Traditional series Legend is $1489.

The 2599 is list pricing. MF has it for 1829 and the 12 string for 1899.

I played the GC 6 string in CT last year. It is a very good guitar.

Hey Moody, did you find it had a "full" acoustic tone ?

Also the price list says the 1627 is a CUTAWAY with a shallow bowl which is obviously wrong.

Also, I thought I'd heard somewhere that the original GC shallow bowl was a little deeper than a standard shallow bowl or am I mistaken ?

I think the 1627 reissue has the artist bowl (same as the original). It's deeper than a supershallow and not as deep as a mid depth. I played it at NAMM and thought it was nice. Very much like the original. The question I have is that you can buy plenty of the originals for about $500. so why would someone pay 4x that much for a reissue. It's not like it's a reissue of a rare guitar. Dave

Gosh, I want one of those 1627 RI's so freaking bad I can hardly stand it, but I just can't justify that kind of dough -- especially when there are originals floating around out there that can be had for a fraction of that. Plus, mine would have to be a special ordered lefty, which would add even more to the cost.

I was stoked about these guitars as soon as I heard they were coming out, but even more so after hearing how good one of them sounded in the hands of it's namesake on the 40th Anniversary DVD.

You know Jeff, since it's a full body and not a cutaway, I doubt if a lefty would be that much more than a righty. You should contact Al about it. Sell that cheesy Les Paul and get it. Actually, sell the 93 Elite and get it. With that and maybe a Zoom 505II pedal, you'd sound great at church. And look even cooler.

I think I'll have to order the 2079LX Custom (Custom) sweetie that you just received and slap a slick, Glen Campbell TR cover on it, and call it better than GOOD!!! ;)

Pokey,

You do that and you'll be following in Dave's footsteps even more than you realize, as he has slapped more than a few GC TR covers on several of his own guitars... Not that there's anything wrong with that! :D

I actually would like to know, HOW to get a GC tr-cover for my 1624. It was an accidental find, but she sings..she taught me, not to think that nylon is danger.

I have this terrible urge to climb a pole everyday. ;)

GC TRC's won't fit on the new slim slotted headstocks. Believe me, I have tried ...
