How much does is cost to have a guitar re-fretted? and is it better to have all of them replaced at the same time? ( sorry if this sounds like a stupid question to you guys)

Also, I would like to have the rosette replaced at some time at the Mothership if it is possible. I am not really sure if it is necessary. There is some loss of color, the black outer stripe from 6pm to 8pm. It is not really noticeable but it bugs me...

The rosette was reglued on at one time. A very good job but some black part of the the outer stripe, must have flaked off, when it was glued back on. The rosette is not missing just the black stripe area underneath.

Costs??? 1869 CL 1999

Thanks, Dee :)

I am not sure what the factory charges. Last guitar I had done was $250 from a private luthier about 5 years ago.
If needed you replace all the frets it just makes sense and is easier to level and dress.

call john or kim in the service department they will hook you up. Tell them the idiot the sells gear for a living told you to call.

Several years ago I sent my 1717 Legend back to the factory for a refret. They also leveled out the divots in the fret board. I think they charged me $230 but that was four or five years ago. They did do a really nice job.

Same advice. A good refret including leveling the board should cost at least $200. There's a lot of labor involved and the quality of the work makes all the difference in the world. Don't go looking for the best bargin. Dave

:) Thankyou for all the great advice.

I love the guitar. It is a boomer plugged-in. The top, other than the color on the rosette is near-mint. I have never had a guitar re-fretted before. I would be willing to send it to CT and pay more to have them check her out.

Call them first...they'll set it up for you to ship it to them...then let THEM tell YOU what the fretboard needs. They won't pad the bill with work they think is unnecessary. As for the rosette, I'd just tell them to replace it. I don't know what they'll charge, but they'll call you and discuss it with you before they do it, and no one in the world can do as good a job!

Pokeypup...Something this critical and of such sentimental value should not be left to e-mails or even phone calls. It's not to late to find a cheap airfare and bring that guitar to the factory in person to discuss the issues with the Ovation folk. Make it about May 19th.

Exactly! That way we can all give our opinions as to what it needs.

:D

Boy, I sure would love to.

Every year in June, I fly to St. Louis and meet a bunch of other girls. ( 12-15 of us) We meet at a friends in IL and party for 4 days. We get to yack about our kids and make fun of...I mean, BRAG about our husbands. ;)

A few of us play guitar and we have a great weekend talking and fishing and being berry berry bad.

I'll have to save for a ticket next year. Besides, that will give me time to sweet talk my boss into letting me take back-to-back vacations.

Slipster it's easy.

Think of it as catch and "he never calls me", let's go watch a chic flic, cry and do our nails!

Actually, I realize that Pokey is bit of a rare find - if I wasn't married I'd be asking if she had a sister.

Chics rule, men drool!

Not long after joining our church I was approached with an opportunity to join their "Drama Team".

Yeah, right...

...nothing like you guys are thinking.

Yes, the fishing is really fun. The hostess has a very large home with a lake that runs behind. Not all the women fish, but last year I had to bring a fishing skirt, cuz the trophy catch was won by one of the ladies who always wears skirts.

No pillow fights, Jeff. However we do have an Aerobed launching contests in our jammies every night. :p

I have to tell ya that I just love to watch the fireflies. :) There are no such cool bugs on the west coast.

The first year we got together, all us leftcoasters were freaking out. :D

Pokeypup, I want to apologize for the dirty minds that populate this board. I'm ashamed to be a part of the board at times like this.

I'm mean, they're all a bunch of freakin' amatuers when it comes to dirty minds. My thoughts, of course, are much dirtier....

And Clifford's, include llamas in pj's...
