Hi

There is a 24 hr item; no 7413448034

Beware of China dealers with no history and remarkable deals; this is listed to buy now at $398 Australian

I (stupidly) bid on one the other week and have not proceeded as they refused to answer questions, and then I started to notice irregularities such as no system of payment from Australia, fake store link.

Turned out that they have stolen the add from an American seller (found it accidentally on google)

Curious; they are selecting ovation/adamas

Unremarkably,

despite giving eBay the item no they stole the add from, the sellers outraged comments, and she has contacted eBay etc they say they don't have enough to do anything

Regarding China; I thought it might have been a US expat. But I would agree with that.

Well this SCAM goes on; didn't sell first time so they have relisted for three days.

And the good thing is this adamas is available in 4 part; to quote

Quantity: 1 lot available (4 items each)
Cost per item: RMB 615.00 each
(Not sold individually)

Or does that mean you get 4 guitars. I would ask but the guys don't reply

In ebay's defense, or maybe to relay a story where ebay took action, I was involved in a deal on an '02 Collector's about a year and a half ago that went south bad. The seller (with 100% positive feedback over about 150 sale transactions) grossly misrepresented the instrument and agreed to refund my money if I sent it back. I did, to the return address on the package. Seller claimed after it had been delivered for three weeks that I had sent it to the wrong address even though he had never given me a different address to send it to. Refused to refund my money because he did not receive the item back. The address that was on the original package was his old address. UPS tried to retrieve the box and forward, but no one lived at that address any longer. Why did you use an old address for return, I asked. No reply after that.

After a long story that involved me seriously considering taking him to small claims court just on principle, lo and behold, I see the same instrument listed on ebay again (same S/N, same photos with the same flaws (if you knew what you were looking for), same copy, same page layout, same geographic area, etc.) under a new seller name. I placed a bid on the new listing so I could get the seller info from ebay and then cancelled it. I sent all my "evidence" to ebay electronically, and within a day, the original seller account had been cut off, the new seller account had been cut off and the item was killed.

Never did get my money back, but I learned something. Never send anything of significant value without requiring signature on delivery. Sounds simple, but I didn't. UPS had done their job and delivered it to the address on the box, and my lawyer told me I would never collect from them - I would have to go to the seller. Problem is that even though a judgement against him was a slam dunk, collecting the judgement would probably cost more than the judgement was worth. Add that to the time involved in pursuing it, and I took it as a really hard lesson in life.

Robbie,
That's one of the scams that are rampant on the "Bay" right now. Two versions: Once you win; if you see that the package was delivered without a delivery confirmation; just wait two weeks and claim it never arrived. Paypal will grab your cash from the buyer and give it back to you no questions asked. You get the item and your cash.
What if it has a delivery confirmation? Easy - take your item, and then claim it was misrepresented. If the buyer asks you to return it for a refund, return the empty box, but you do it with a delivery confirmation, and again, since you can prove you sent it back, Paypal will yank your cash from the buyer and give it to you. If Paypal isn't involved it may not mean instant cash refund, but life gets very hard for the seller in Ebay land. The scams originated in Italy and are very common. I got burned the first way; a buddy took it in the shorts the seceond way.

Making the deadbeats pay on a judgment is the hardest part. You only get their attention if you can seize one of their assets, never a better feeling than having a landlords car seized.

I haven't had very many bad experiences on ebay, but when I did, I immediately obtained the sellers personal information. Once I had that I would do an internet backgropund check on the individual or company. Then I would contact him and let him know that I know who he is and where he lives and will be contacting his local police. It's really nice if he's only one or two states away. I will then threaten to drive to his address and deal with him face to face.
