A quick non-Ovation question, and then, of course I will return to unbiased worship of my 2 O's. :) I just got a new Gibson es-335 (my new baby which I'm in love with) and I'm looking for a good quality and well padded gig bag for it (many bags are too narrow for it).

I'm hoping y'all have suggestions of gig bags which fit wider guitars. If anyone has one that fits an O Typhoon, maybe that'd work... but if anyone else owns a 335 and has a gig bag that works, I'd appreciate the suggestion.

Cheers,
Josh

A GIG BAG for a ES-335????? LOL!

You can get a good case at GC for under 75.00...or a padded gig bag for 30-40...spend the extra $$ and protect that thing! I wish I still had mine!

For riding on my bicycle around downtown brooklyn to downtown manhattan I use a "backaxe". Bought the Backaxe by mail order from first quality music. You can use it on all your guitars.

I wanted to get a tribal planet bag and was told to wait till the new versions came to the US, from England, that they would be worth the wait ... But they never came and I couldn't wait any longer so went with backaxe and am happy. You can try looking for one of these.

I have a "travelite" type gig bag for my les paul like OSP-1. It works pretty good. It's one of those semi hardshell deals. They have a bunch of them over at the guitar center on 14th street.
Let us know what you get.

I realize it's kinda odd... but when I got out to jam with friends or to go to a lesson it's a pain to cary the case (I"m in New York City and don't have a car so wherever I go, I cary it).

Greg is right buy a hardshell case. Your guitar cost too much to lug it everywhere in a gig bag. The extra money is little for the extra protection. I know how you must feel about your new baby. I have a Epiphone version and love it. All my guitars have their own hardshell case.

I had the hardshell case for my AS-73, and would not have wanted to haul that around in a bag. (and it's not NEARLY as valuable as that 335). Definitely go for a hard case if you can.

The delay was because Tribal Planet were changing their US distribution from MBT Music Corp to Fender. Fender should have the whole range in stock in the USA now

vc,
Buy a tribal bag and buy a bike. The backaxe would be second choice, and then a travelite case.

Using a gig bag is easier to get around. I'm in NYC too.

Best place to buy a bike is at recycle a bicycle. Google them. Their inventory now is probably low, but you never know. They have a shop in Loisda and in dumbo.
Happy Trails!

Thanks to all for the responses. I actually have a bike already, and a case for the guitar (came with it).

Thanks also for the suggestions about possible gig bags... of course I'm looking for a very very protective one. There's a fine line between loving the guitar and wanting to take perfect care of it and the realization that, at the end of the day it's still a guitar and I need to be able to use it and get around with it. I'm going to check out the 2 bags suggested - the sling and the other one whose name I'm forgetting as I write this post (but I'll go back and check).

Cheers,
JT

Gig bags aren't protective enough for a $2000 guitar on a bike. I realize you must get around with your guitar but buy a cheaper one for this dangerous situation. Maybe the Epiphone. I'm concerned your next post might be "My guitar was distroyed today".

Look on jeffW's website and look at his how to put a strap on a hardcase project. Then you could put it on youer back like a gigbag.

Once in a while he has a good idea. We haven't found out yet where he steals them from.
