Joined: September 2008 Posts: 9 Location: ohio | I am loving this eclipse more every day as I play it,but my strings are really high at the bottom and low at the top. The saddle is down as low as possible. I took the cover off the back and it has an allen, is this to adjust angle. The neck appears fine as far as truss adjustment but action is way to high at bottom only.any help?

I think you and DVD are the only two members who own the Eclipse. (If I'm wrong, someone will tell me) I saw DVD's once in person and it seemed like a fine guitar to me.

There's a non-OFCer up in Battle Ground that puts one up on the Portland Craigslist once in a while that never seems to sell. Oh and Diesel beat everybody to the punch. Loosen up the neck bolts a bit, and then tweak that center allen bolt to control the angle of the dangle.

Try backing off the two neck screws closest to the bridge about a 1/4 turn. Then tighten the forward two 1/4 turn. Now raise your Bridge accordingly. The allen doodad is a pivot point and the neck bolts are the "levers. It may take a few trys to get it to stay in the perfect spot but once you get the hang of it you can set it up perfectly for your style. Then we'll discuss intonation and string gage...

Joined: September 2008 Posts: 9 Location: ohio | I loosened all 4 and then moved the allen inward and then retightend all 4.I am getting ready to set intonation and all I had on hand was a new set of D'Addario super lights 9-42. I think this is to light but it needed strings.I will pick up some this weekend.Any sugestions?

Basically, steel strings will brighten your tone. Nickle plating mellows the sound, pure nickel is really mellow and flat rounds the mellowist. Once you start to distort the difference is negligable. I say start light and bright, then go thru heavier and mellower, then heavy and bright. Most people wind up in the middle.
