Just won a 1768-C on fleabay. It should look nice paired with a recently acquired FuD. So the question arises about what to do with the resting cedar top since, as my signature suggests, I only play 'em one at a time.

Does anybody know if storing your off season wool sweaters in your FD affords any moth protection? ;) Does it affect the sound? One might think it might yield a warmer tone.

I'm a pretty happy camper about now. Will undoubtedly have more to say on receipt.

Figured I had to get it out of Canada quiet like, while nobody was looking.

Kind of how my ancestors left England a couple a hundred years ago.

We have no problem in this country with the free exchange of goods back and forth. (Ignore those two hippies protesting raw log export. They wouldn't know a raw log if they hugged it.)

Consider it more of a 'repatriation' if you must.

Ahhh, so you were the one running the bids up against me
Congrats on the FD-14, I was hoping to own a second one but glad it went to somone in the OFC family ;)

BTW, about an hour after the auction, I got an email offering a second chance opportunity. I told them to relist it on Ebay if it was for real...

Aloha,

Tim

Well, Tim and I have now been introduced and exchanged a couple of PM's. Somehow I totally missed the FD-14 thread on or around the 27th. Tim and I have discussed what's happened and untimately the market prevailed. I might have saved a buck or two had I seen the earlier post but that's my fault. Tuppy et.al. have been so consistent in their overwhelming approval of this model, along with my predilection for wood tops, made this a serious want for me.

In the past, I have talked with others here when potential for conflict arises, in this instance I simply missed the original thread. As it happens we were pretty close in our Max bids.

Chatman,

The hype on the FD-14 is well deserved, the sound is really as close to a woodbox possible.

I've started eyeballing the two 1773LX's on ebay;

OVATION 1773LX-4 CLASSICAL USA W OP PRO & CASE! NEW!

Ovation 1773LX Acoustic Elec. Guitar & CASE NEW!!

Paul has commented on his, I've been thinking about adding a nylon to the collection...

Add two. A classical and a Country Artist. Then you have a wide neck and a wider neck.

Tim, the 1773LX is one of the best if not THE best nylon string Ovation has ever built. And that's just not me talking. Tuppie's played mine and says the same thing. And for some reason I don't understand, his opinion on guitars is respected around here.

Doesn't say much for the board......

Only when you accidently hit 3 different notes at the same time.

I've played a few chords above the 3rd fret, but only when I took my capo along for the ride :D
