Location: Reading, Pa. | Since I'm new to Ovation I thought I should ask some of the veterans to Ovation if it is possible for me to relocate the upper strap button from the top of the bowl below the neck to the foot of the neck or immediatly below that on the back of the bowl. The location really strains my neck, I feel I'll soon need my neck reset. I have a modal 1511 Ultra.
Thanks LC. |

Location: Warren,Pa. | Hi Larry and welcome! I was keeping my mouth shut, but no one else is paying attention to you.
I can't figure out if it's YOUR neck or your GUITAR'S neck that's feeling the strain and needs a reset. Please clarify. John <>{ |

You can re-locate tha strap button anywhere that makes YOUR guitar comforatable for you to play!! I would take this opportunity to replace the buttons with Dunlop or Schaller straplocks too. If you want to put it on the bowl below the neck, you should get ahold of John or Kim at the factory. they can send you one of the "mollie" inserts that are used on the new guitars to mount the strap buttons. It's as easy as drilling on smalle hole and putting it together!! If you want to put it on the heel of the neck, just remember to pre-drill the hole for the screw with correct sized pilot hole, don't use a screw that's too long, and put a little soap or wax on the screw when you install it to prevent splitting the wood. :D
Good times!! |

Location: Reading, Pa. | Thanks guys for the info. and yes Fred was right, it's' my ' neck feeling the strain. The reason I posted this question was that Stonebobbo told me my guitar's neck was some experimental type foam or composite. I didn't know how strong it was and also the neck is bolted on and I thought I might mess something up in the neck.
thanks again, |
