Location: Miami | I just bought an old 1617 that has a 9 volt and a volum tone control. It's pretty shot. Any ideas on a replacement and where to get it. It seems that the Ovation saddles are wider than Gibson and Martins so I'm not sure if a Fishman or Trinity? with do the job. HELP PLEASE |

Location: NJ | what is shot? the pickup or the preamp?
if you need a pick up I have them or you can get them from Ovation factory service, if it is the pre amp you may have a problem |

If so they should be available and nor that difficult to install. |

Location: Miami | I dated this guitar to be a 1977. I would think that the newer equipment might be improved in this technology, but I am not sure. Anyone have an opinion on this? |

Location: Miami | Is there any aftermarket under the saddle pickup that can be used on these acoustic ovations and if so, do I use the original saddle on top of it. Seems kind of a weird fit! |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I've installed the K&K p/u's on my guitars because I prefer their sound. They go directly under the existing saddle/pickup, and I run them into the Ovation preamp. Sounds great, although I do wonder how it would sound if I replaced the Ovation pickup with a single piece of Tusq. John <>{ |

I don't think that any under the saddle p/u will work, and it may mess up the coustic tone. The factory has a re-issues of guitars that use the stacked volume/tone controls, so maybe contact them an see how much a whole new system will cost. |
