Here's the low down: SWMBO is still on strict bed rest. Friday, 9 JUN 06, we went in for amnio to see if baby's lungs were ready. The appointment was for 9a. The doctor showed up at 11a. The first test said no, the second test said yes, the tie-breaker said no. Had two ultrasounds that day and discovered a loop of umbilical cord around baby's neck (my younger sister just lost a baby at 16wks, there was two loops around baby's neck) so my wife is freaked out. It's not uncommon, though...1 in 5 babies have a loop. Anyway, the C-section was tentatively scheduled for today (12 JUN 06), but due to the lung maturity issue, they wanted to reschedule it later in the week. I voted for 14 JUN, as that's my birthday. The neonatal specialist vetoed me. I have never met this guy before and he's vetoing me?! Funny thing, he looked like John Boy Walton but sounded exactly like Dick Van Dyke. I had a hard time taking anything he said seriously. But, I digress. So, the C-Section is now scheduled for Friday, 16 JUN 06. Mrs. Cruster is seriously un-happy about the delay. I told her it's only another week, and that after six months of bedrest, she can do a week standing on her head. Not what she wanted to hear, but hey, I could've tried cracking jokes...she absolutely loves my sense of humor now. Not. Anyway, she has a couple of non-stress tests (essentially baby's heart rate/contraction monitoring) this week, one today, one Wednesday. Then we'll have the addition on Friday. As for the rest of us...Littleman is holding up fairly well; he's getting really excited to have a baby to 'take care of.' I bought a road bike two weeks ago (Felt F55, 7003 double-butted frame with carbon stays and fork) and am up to 30 mile rides. I do 8-10 miles in the morning before work. It's nice to just zone out for a while. Thanks for thinking of us. I appreciate it. Wish I could've made the tour this year. :(

You were sorely missed at the tour, and talked about much behind your back :p . Congrats on the new bike, but couldn't you at least have gotten a Cyclo-X frame so you could put some knobbies on it? :D :p :D :p Bicyling AND guitars are both good for the soul :D Don't be a stranger! Blessings,

It's all been greatly appreciated, though. As to the bike...I have a mid- to late-90s Fisher Tassajara hardtail (no suspension at all, I think it was prior to the Trek buyout of Fisher) with monster knock-outs for the trail. It was tough riding it on the road, so I needed (heh...wanted?) the skinny bike. Learning to ride clipless was fun; I even put a set of Crank Bro.'s Mallets on the mtb. Loads more power! Thanks again for the thoughts, everyone. Hopefully, I'll have more time to work on my post count in the near future. ;)

It was a beautiful guitar; excellent workmanship, the wood was nicely figured for ash and the tonal possibilites with the switching and Z-coils was almost unbelievable. (Although what can you expect from a man who sold a Cropper AND a Commanche?) But, I realized that I was moving out of guitar playing and into guitar horse-trading. And really, there's no need for that. I think of the guitars I've sold, I miss the Hamer and the Steinberger more than any of the others (there are more than what I've got listed in my gallery...shhhh, don't tell my wife! The Cropper was a nice guitar and really put the lie to all the Peavey bashing that one finds on the 'net. It just wasn't being played with the ASAT Junior and Classic in the house. :)

The missus hasn't slept right in months. But, when you are on strict bed rest, some days all you have to do is nap. And I'm a light sleeper, so every toss and turn, every cough, trip to the toilet, etc. wakes me up. Last night I finally fell asleep some time after 1:30a, only to be awoken at 3:30a by Mr. Littleman who wanted to inform me that I had neglected to affix his 'tattoo' (one of those temporary jobs out of a box of cereal or something) as promised. I got him back in bed and asleep only to lay awake until my 5:30 bike ride departure. Ugh. This is a typical night, I'm sad to say. Cruster, I figure that next week, you'll start posting like Bailey, ie, in the middle of the night. Good luck to you and SWMBO. But, we soldier on, right? :)

(Did you get that 6 weeks ago I got a Paco De Lucia flamenco guitar? And that despite my promises to SWMBO I still haven't sold any guitars to make way for it?)

I'm another cyclist.....didn't realize there were many others here.....I started with knobby bikes 14 years ago and came over to "the dark side" (skinny-tire road bikes) about 5 years ago when my township started getting paved. Just got back from a 13-mile ride myself.....I do mine in the evening after work. Felt makes good bikes.....glad you enjoy it. Guitars and bicycles go together well, I've found. Trek bought out Fisher for the 1994 model year, so your Fisher is older than you think.....remember the special edition 1994 Grateful Dead Hoo Koo E Koo????? Roger

Joined: May 2004 Posts: 2850 Location: Midland, MI | I'd kill for nine hours of sleep in one night. I'm lucky if I get that over two or three nights. But, I'm not complaining (really). It'll all pay off...when I'm old and feeble and need someone to put me in a nursing home. :D Schroeder- I don't remember posting about that sale here. I don't even remember posting on the OFC in a couple of months. Of all the things I've lost... ;) A Paco De Lucia flamenco? Nice...did you post pics? I love guitar pr0n! That Bushman yook that StandingO posted (I saw it this morning) was sharp. So, you've gotten away with avoiding the one-in-one-out thing, eh? For how long, though? ;)
