Location: south east Michigan | Are the textured tops thinner that the the cross weave tops?
The textured top seems to have a finer weave pattern. Do they use the same cross weave material but just put a different finish on it?
I know I posted this question in another thread but it got lost in all the witty banter. |

Location: Munich, Germany | Hi Brad,
my digital meter says 0.088" at both guitars, the 1581 RI and the W597. That is, in fact, including the epaulettes. I did not want to take them of for measuring. That is only for the thickness, I could not say anything about the coating.
Regards, Kurt |

Interesting. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | OK ... here's another related question then ... Is there a noticeable measured frequency response difference between the different tops. I could see (theoretically)how a textured top could throw frequency waves in a broader pattern than a flat (laquered) surface, and thus sound better from different angles. (the idea sounds feaseable) |
