Location: south east Michigan		Are the textured tops thinner that the the cross weave tops?
The textured top seems to have a finer weave pattern. Do they use the same cross weave material but just put a different finish on it?

I know I posted this question in another thread but it got lost in all the witty banter.

my digital meter says 0.088" at both guitars, the 1581 RI and the W597. That is, in fact, including the epaulettes. I did not want to take them of for measuring. That is only for the thickness, I could not say anything about the coating.

Location: 6 String Ranch		I think they are all the same. The texture came from a piece of fabric that was put next to the top when it was made. The smt and the rest of those were against a smooth plate which is what the cross weave is but I'm not sure.

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :)		OK ... here's another related question then ... Is there a noticeable measured frequency response difference between the different tops. I could see (theoretically)how a textured top could throw frequency waves in a broader pattern than a flat (laquered) surface, and thus sound better from different angles. (the idea sounds feaseable)
