Has anyone used one of these things? Does it really help? (I need all the help I can get!).

I'm considering one of these as well. Feedback appreciated!

Best price I've gotten is $129 at the GC once I asked if that was the best they could do. Did NOT include the $20 charger. I've seen them on eBay for $129 w/ the charger.

I'm tempted, but don't know if it is another hard to use gadget that will end up collecting dust. I do need a metronome and these have one built in.

I had one of the original ones. It works OK, but the sound quality really deteriorates with each degree of slowing the tempo. My problem was that the thing died on me after I had it for about a year. The factory customer service absolutely sucks big time. I sent it out to them in California and it took 3 months for them to tell me that they could fix it for $142. Obviously, I didn't have it fixed.

Also it EATS batteries. The a/c adapter is a must.

I do not recommend it. I bought the Boss Loop Station which can also slow down the tempo, but also does a whole lot more than the GT-1. It's more expensive, but worth it.

It is obvious you own and can use a computer so here is my recommendation (unless you need portability and don't own a laptop).

Riffster

Amazing Slow Downer

I owned the Tascam Guitar Trainer and was lucky enough to unload it for almost what I paid for it. I found it difficult to use and as mentioned before, the sound deterioration was unacceptable.

I own both of these software programs and they are far far superior to the hardware options and for a fraction of the cost.

The Amazing Slow Downer seems to be the better supported of the two with frequent updates.

I believe both sites allow downloads of functioning trial versions to help you decide it they meet your needs or not.

Blues, tnroundback,

Did either of you try out the software solution or did you decide to go the hardware route?

I jsut move a few weeks ago and haven't set up my internet account at home.

I'll check out the sites you recommended as soon as I get back on-line at home.
