does anyone know anything about one of these?
LEARAVIAN RM 402 C PILOTS REFERENCE RECEIVER
I was excavating in my basement today and found it. I think it was sold to me with a pile of guitar amps. I guess the guy thought it has tubes so Al want it.
Anyway I have no clue if it works or not but was wondering what exactly it did. I will probably list it on e bay.
thanks in advance

Amazing to have that much storage...

anyway, for the B model (1947):

The radio case is made of wood and then covered with a leatherette type of material. The radio has an 8 foot long whip antenna that telescopes together via a cable with some elastic terminations. The antenna screws onto a post in the upper right corner.

The radio has 3 bands, one for airport beacons, one is standard broadcast and one for aircraft/marine frequencies. It can operate from AC power or from batteries. It requires a 90 volt "A" battery (made up of two 45V batteries) and a 7.5 volt "B" battery. This set has 5 tubes, all with 1 volt filaments except the 117N7GT rectifier.

Current Ebay listing for one.

This probably won't have much value to anyone since the frequencies (aviation frequencies especially) have been subdivided so many times since the '40's that it is really probably pretty useless. Someone might want parts or tubes though.

Al should keep it, go out on the side of the runway and pretend to be an LSO (landing signal officer)...

Al, Put it on eBay. I'll type you up a "Letter Of Authenticity" that it belonged to Amilia Earhart. We'll split the proceeds, OK?
