Just bought this guitar and trying to establish some history. Would be grateful for a bit of history. Serial number 105021. Also got a dual control for volume and tone which doesnt resemble the early volume only control. is this a late 70s model. My luthier is also adjusting the saddle because some of the nylon strings are resting on the walnut bridge . The guitar sounds great and the intonation and action are ok. Here in the Uk there are loads of Ovations at very high prices1 Too high I guess!

westpoint,

Welcome!

Sometimes the server goes slow, you may want to delete or ignore the other two posts.

It is in between a Classic sized neck and a standard. Full sized bowl, a must in any arsenal!

Look over in the REFERENCE area and do a search on 1624.

Welcome Westpoint,
I have a 1978 Country Artist with the "stacked" tone/volume control, which is original with this guitar. My serial number is 226758, and the bowl was identified as a 'shallow' bowl or 'artist' bowl, or what is also referred to as a 'mid-depth' bowl. There is some small variations in size among those descriptions.

I'll have to check the s/n on mine, it only has a volume control, no tone.

Then again, it doesn't have a pickup, so I don't really feel I'm missing the tone control....

Hi Westpoint - good to see another UK cat here!

Not sure if "Cracking the Ovation Code" on the official site would help date your CA:- http://www.ovationguitars.com/index.cfm?fa=codethree

Enjoy being around here. These guys rock!

Mine is a 1981, sn 240438, which also has the stacked knobs. Seems that was the thing for the nylons. Great playing guitar - you'll love it.

Welcome aboard!

Mine's a '73. That explains it.
