Because I am curious, I have learned FORTRAN, C, C+, dabbled in relational languages and their theories, went through "Java For Dummies", and read every HTML tome I could find, settling on XTML as the future for internet data, at every intersection I was wrong, I had OS2, and Windows won, I would love to help you but I am the "Dummy" in every advance because I selected the best technology and the world chose to go with windows.

LOL Bailey.. I somehow, probably thru shear laziness, just learned whatever I needed to learn to apply to the technology and topology of the day. I guess the result is that I've programmed some pretty seriuos projects on almost every language out there at one time or another. Funny you mention OS/2 as it seems the latest versions of Windows (in Beta) and the new Mac platform, are finally getting to where OS/2 was years ago.

I had OS2 on an IBM model P70 with 6 megabytes in the early 90s, but had nothing to run on it.

The reason I had six megabytes is because I had a downsized version of the publishing program that IBM had made available for super PCs with what was then massive memory. It was a great program, designed to run on servers and had hundreds of subdirectories with fonts and such, and had drafting capabilities almost as good as Autocad. As I type, I am trying to remember it's name, being old, I can't, and it is terribly annoying. It was an industry standard for publishing, and I cannot remember it's name.

I never used it for any thing, so it was a terrible waste of money, it probably is setting on my P70, waiting to publish a good book, but the plasma screen failed and the owner (me), now wastes his time on the internet.

I'm not positive, but I think in the 90's Quark only ran on Mac's . . .

It was "Interleaf Publisher", a program used by many publishing outfits on what was then known as "servers". IBM bought it and issued a version for PC's, but they (the PC's) had to have extra memory and a big hard disc as it had hundreds of subdirectories with fonts and such, and an included drawing/image program similar to AutoCad. It had everything that was needed to publish any kind of book or dissertation. I think what ruined it was that Word Perfect (and Microsoft Word) came out with Windows versions, that even though they were slow, they had some of the same features and the more modern computers could run them.

As usual, I had a glorious failure with a program with the power and capabilities of early main frames but overshadowed by later modern PC's. at least I got to dabble in PC power before many others. I plugged it into an IBM laser printer that was only black an white, but had all the graphics capabilities except color. COLOR, what a terrible failing on the verge cheap ink jets.

As i have said, I was an idiot with more money than patience.

Hey gang

I am going to cut this thread loose from the top.

Just so you know, Miles told me that no one sent him any samples of how they could help in developing the site.

I was told that several people volunteered but apparently nothing was submitted.

So may I ask?
was there a problem in how this was presented? or is more guidance needed in what is needed? or is it just everyone has good intentions and life gets in the way?

I am curious as to why no one submitted anything.
