After four or five of spruce...specialized spruce such as Englemman or bearclaw...then specialized woods such as Koa, redwood, mahogany, etc., will call to you...each wonderful as each has a unique voice.

I would never trade my Martin D-25K2 for a spruce top.

Koa has become so rare/protected that Martini will no longer be able to come out with a Koa top...yet, Ovation has a small amount (2006C and the Al special). After a hard day, the joy of playing a guitar that is beautiful while singing to me in a unique voice.

Listen to the soul...be brave enough to try ;)

It is a beaytiful LOOKING guitar, but too bad it's a shallow bowl. All looks. Nice "outies".

Nothing about all looks if you've got an amp to drive through...but that's all been said before. ;)

Always love the outies, especially on a beautiful Koa top like that.

Hi Guys,

this is not a Koa-Top. It is a black-walnut Top. I once had one of these limited birds and the sound is amazing - but it's figured black walnut. They did it six- and twelvestring.

That ain't Koa. Possibly Walnut or whatever panelmasters they were doing at that time.

I owned one of the 12's (now residing with OFC member Dano in Toronto) and for a shallow bowl it had a full crisp sound. Very nice.

And the ASW (Angel Step Walnut) had a very distinct and beautiful look.

Okay, couldn't resist. Man, the GAS is BAD lately...anyone else getting this?

Probably doesn't help that right now seems the time to buy on ebay - lots of good stuff going for pretty low prices. Good for early Christmas shopping...
