Location: Detroit area | For anyone interested, Guitar Center in Canton MI has a sweet '05 Collectors marked down to $749. I'm not sure if this is considered a good price, but the guitar is spotless - I almost considered trading in my CL even-up. The contour bowl and preamp have me thinking things... |

Location: south east Michigan | I'll have to make a point to visit the Canton store. Maybe I'll do it when Mrs. Slipkid and I make the hour drive to see the new IKEA store.
The GC here in Roseville never has that type of Ovation in stock. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | That's $100 below last week....I told edensharvest about it for his dad and he was considering it. I checked it out for him last week....there are no issues with it. Obviously, he decided not to pursue it.
It is a NEW guitar, not an FRG. It has been there nearly a year and a half now, and they are getting very interested in moving it. There is NO CASE for it at that price, the case was sold out from under it. It is number 467.

If I lived in the States, I'd be on my way there right now, with the cheque already filled out.
I'd explain it to the missus sometime AFTER telling her about the '05 in the garage that I bought a year ago, that she still doesn't know about. |

Location: Detroit area | It wasn't there 10 years ago. In fact, about 2/3 of Canton wasn't here 10 years ago!
By the way, I bought the Collector's this morning. Got 'em down to roughly $700. Seems like a super guitar - can't wait to put it to the test. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I've lived in Canton for over 30 years....there were (WERE being the operative word) many, many farms in the western and southern part of the township. Almost all gone now. The developers have pretty much built it up and ruined it. Last I heard, Canton's population is over 80,000 (this makes it one of the biggest "cities" in Michigan).
Guitar Center is on M-153 Ford Road, one mile east of I-275, in a shopping center with a Home Depot. It's been there 6-8 years or so.

Location: Chehalis, Washington | Now I'm jealous...I did talk to them for about that one, but they wouldn't sell it without a case for shipping concerns, and with the price of $848 listed, plus case, shipping, tax...I think they wanted about $1050 total, which was a bit more than one here locally. If you got them down to about $700, that's a total STEAL!!! Great buy!
On another note, thanks for the help, Roger, and sorry to not keep up with you. Our shop's got a booth at a huge holiday show in Tacoma this week, which is our biggest of the year. Something like 3000 loaves of bread in 5 days...I've been a little preoccupied.
I opted to go with a new 6778LX-LTD in Vintage Natural. Supposed to be an awesome little guitar for the price. I'll post pics when I get my hands on it (before my dad does!). |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | Yup, contour bowl cutaway,, OP-pro preamp. Just enough abalone in the rosette and the "swoosh" on the fingerboard to make it not completely plain-jane. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the '05 was the first contour bowl model offered.
Actually, it's a really pretty guitar, in a very simplistic way. Nothing overly splashy, which is a serious contrast to just the look of the 2006-FKOA. |

Correct on the contour bowl. Played it last night for a couple of hours during worship rehearsal and really like the way it feels compared to the regular deep bowl my CL had. Although it would be quite a departure, I could see the Mother Ship making this a standard bowl somewhere down the line.
Also correct on the inlay - just enough to class it up without being flashy. With the natural top, black headstock, and gold hardware it has a real classic look to it. I'm in love already.
**Question: For whatever reason my XLR output is only sending a signal when I'm tuning/accessing the battery. Didn't get anything using phantom power. Do I need to buy a dummy-plug? Never had to do this with my CL. |

Location: Central Massachusetts | Joey, you need either a dummy plug or an XLR cable with pin 1 bonded to the shell. do a search on XLR for all the details.
Any local guitar shop that builds their own cables should be able to make you one, or a search through the archives should reveal the big brands that do it...
I've heard the "Blue Microphones" brand XLR cables work, but they are spendy.
My local shop made me a 20 foot cable for $20, I think. Works great. |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | Hey Joey. If you play a bit of lead occasionally and want to add a 'boost' button like on the Al DiMeola signature model, have a look at my thread 'ADII Boost Button'.
I also had trouble with the phantom power the one and only time I had mine plugged in. I just used the 1/4" jack. Sounded great. |
