Location: Warren,Pa. | I may have asked about this before...maybe not. These days I seem to remember things that never happened. Getting old I guess.
Anyway...My 6778LX is my project guitar. I have installed K&K pickups on the soundboard under the saddle. These pick up the sound transferred from the strings through the saddle to the soundboard.
There are a lot of parts in an Ovation P/U which I think probably inhibit direct vibration transfer to the top. That doesn't matter if you use the Ovation P/U, but I'm sure it does matter in my situation. I'm thinking I need to get a piece of bone large enough to fit into the slot in the bridge, and then shape it like the original O p/u. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone done this before?
Thanks. John <>{ |

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I would think about making a small block of ebony or walnut to fill the void and cutting a slot in that for a normal 1/8 bridge. I think the mass of that large of bone bridge would also not be a good thing. Plus it is easy to get 1/8 bridge already made that compensate for the b string etc. Wood also would be easier to fashion and if your screw up a little ebony would make a lot of these.

Location: Warren,Pa. | Have you seen the way the Ovation saddle is compensated? The low-e is compensated long and the high-e is compensated short. I don't think you could handle that range with an 1/8" saddle. |

Location: ranson, wva | a thin saddle sounds better acousticly, less mass, better direct contact to the bridge then sound board, but i understand what john is saying about the compensation tho..jason |
