Location: Alberta, Canada | I own a '79 1112-4 that has a terrific 2 piece neck. I have seen other 1112's, both earlier and later models than mine, that have 5 piece necks.
What's up with that? I haven't been able to determine why. Was this just something that they did in '79 for some odd reason? Help???
Also, it does not have a TRC, and the others I have seen did. So, here again, why?

Location: Alberta, Canada | So does this guitar not have a truss rod? And what about the 2pc/5pc question? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | If it has no truss rod cover, then it probably does not have a traditional (adjust at the neck) truss rod. I suspect it has the K-bar neck, which I think was starting to be introduced on various models in that timeframe. Look inside the soundhole. There should be a nex nut access right up in the neck block area under the soundboard. Two piece neck was also starting to be introduced on some models in that time frame, so lowq and behold with out actually seeing your guitar I would bet it has a 2 piece neck with k-bar. It's pretty common. Dave |

Location: Warren,Pa. | I don't know why you have a 2-pc neck. Some models still have that. It's not a significant thing though; the stability of a 2-pc neck is virtually the same as with a 5-pc neck. The 2-pc neck is less expensive to make, and so it's used on the lower-end USA models. The 5-pc looks cooler. Some of us simply MUST have it...sort of like Abalone; you don't need it but you REEEEEALY want it.
I'm sure you have a K-bar neck w/a trussrod that gets adjusted from inside the soundhole. This does make for a stronger neck/headstock area since there's much more wood there.
