I have never seen a better book-matched top than this. It's almost as if they pulled it from a mold. ![]() In the natural light, the top changes color depending on the angle. Under muted conditions, it's a very dark cinnamon-brown color, almost as dark as the '84(?) Collectors, but with way more grain and striping. When you increase the light, or change the angle of the top, the color changes all the way up to a vibrant orange-ish tone instead. ![]() Then there's the sound...which is absolutely amazing. Hands-down one of the fullest, richest sounding guitars I have ever had the opportunity to play. Deep contour body makes an awesome tone projection. Comparatively, it's equally as good as any deep bowl Ovation for sound (comparing to my 1718, 1537, and 1581). Bright and full, and warm beyond belief are my first impressions every time I pick it up. Even with the rosewood instead of ebony on the fretboard, the sustain is wonderful, and the action is PERFECT! Back to the looks...I love the inlaid rosette. IMHO, one of the best things Ovation has come up with. Definitely an upgrade from the older models (which I still love) with the overlayed rosettes. The incredible part is seeing the Koa continue on the inside of the rosette inlay right around the soundhole. It seems that the vibration is better without the plastic covering the old CL's had. ![]() THANK YOUS: Fist and foremost, the folks at Ovation did an absolutely incredible job. Flawless, and exactly to a 'T' what I had wanted. It took a while to get it (5 months), but the end result was definitely worth the wait. Yes, I'd do it again. Second, thanks to Greg Smith and Sounds of Praise Music for getting this ordered perfectly and at an incredible price, with this awesome Koa that others said was unavailable and unnatainable, at a value no one else could touch. Excellent customer service, and absolutely unbelievable price. It doesn't get better than that. Third, almost forgotten in this week, on Tuesday I also took posession of a 1581 from Fugot, and I want to say a great big "WAY TO GO" for that one. I opened the case, and honest to goodness could not tell that I had bought a used instrument. Immaculate, pristine, still with all the tags and "case candy" that you would get new, packed and shipped with perfect care. By far and away the best experience I have ever had buying a used guitar. ![]() Makes a nice pair, don't you think? Like I said before, I am definitely blessed! :D :D :D Last and not least, thank you to Al and Miles for hosting this awesome group of Ovation nuts. It is because of the people on this board that my love for Ovations (and willingness to try absurd things) has increased tenfold. I was a player, now I'm a fan! Way to go guys, and thanks for all you do! I must go now - my baby calls...and she's home in the Pacific Northwest for good! ![]()

CMS 2006 Basically, it's two days of workshops, concerts, hanging out and checking out gear, guitars, software...it's geared towards praise & worship musicians, leaders, singers, sound techs, lighting, video - anything related to music and perfomance. If you're into that, it's an awesome experience, and you get to pick the brains of some of the best in the business! I went two years ago and missed last year unfortunately due to my dad's wedding. I know MWoody's going too this year. If you can make it, it's pretty incredible.

My dad had a blast helping you think it all through, and then showing you that what another dealer told you was imposiable was actually just a matter of placing an order! I have to say, it is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever had the pleasure of seeing and playing! Thanks for your order! God Bless!
